Lights in the night - Reflection Hunters Contest #148

(Edited)

Every year around New Year there is something special going on in our favorite arboretum Volčji potok (Wolf's creek) ...

an evening walk among the lights

And since many of the light sculptures are set by the ponds or even on the tiny islands in the ponds, catching a great reflection is a piece of cake.

These spruces made of light chains are amazing, aren't they?

And orbs, and light clad trees ...

And snow white sails ...

And more trees, or prisms when you count their reflections ...

Absolutely no editing went into these photos. It is surprising that they turned out so well considering they were taken with a mid range phone.

It really was a very enjoyable evening family walk amidst these light sculptures.

Happy 2024, everybody.

There are supposedly more than 2 million individual lights used to create all these sculptures in 27 kilometers of wire. Amazing. How many days of creative work was involved in this endeavor?

Since I know the people that constructed all this I can ask them about the details. And congratulate them on the work extremely well done. And to think they will need to put in more hours to dismantle all next week ... mindboggling ...

A lot of people are still happy about the new year and that’s why we’re still seeing lights around
They are beautiful though

Hello dear friend @ervin-lemark happy new year
What a beautiful family night walk, I have no doubt that they had a great time enjoying this beautiful decoration of lights on the trees.
What a beautiful collection of photographs of reflections you have taken, and what is most surprising is that there is no editing in them
I take this opportunity to wish you a wonderful weekend.

Cool reflections, and what a ridiculous amount of lights used, my gosh, worth it though!

While reading the blog, I recognized a word I learned in teen years: "srećno" and assumed you'd be from Bosnia as my friend who taught me at the time. I had to look up if the spelling was correct to say Happy New Year which I've always remembered:

srećno nova godina!

I have a Croatian father myself, and although he was out of sight early on in my life, I gained some Bosnian friends at high school and this way I picked up a bit of the language although I know it's not fully the same.

While following your link to the park, I discovered you are from Slovenia, so the words are not the same, sorry :)

srečno novo leto!

Have a good day ;)

Hey, thanks a lot for your comment and good wishes and all the trouble you went through with languages !LOLZ

Words are almost the same and have common roots and I speak Croatian/Bosnian/Serbian anyway :)
