recovery run (week 3, day 3)

(Edited)

Instead of boring you with yet another run report I will rather show you the photos I took during the doggy walk in the forest. It was right after the summer storm has passed our area. The trees were washed and shiny, the trails were littered with fallen branches, the air was clean, the birds were greeting us with joy and vigor.

Yes, we walked barefoot for more than an hour.

proof of run

2nd of 3 consecutive one hour long recovery runs, this time more balanced than yesterday. In fact, the second part was slower. OK, there was some waiting on a traffic light to change :)

Tomorrow, yes, you've guessed it, another one hour long run.

better and better

Really! From May to late October I walk barefoot in the forest and on most of the doggy walks, even when on the road/asphalt.

Why? It may seem weird to you but I believe that we have lost our connection to nature and earth and that we really, really, need to to function as healthy beings. Walking barefoot, especially on soil, is proven to be essential for our health.

This is from an official source: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4378297/

There are many more alternative sources and explanations.

By the way, as kids we were barefoot most of the time. And it feels good.

I did some minimalist shoes running with Feelmax Niesa and old models of Fivefingers. The longest almost-barefoot official run was a half marathon. Occasionally I do short runs barefoot. It's on a list :)

Most of my shoes are flat, without any significant cushioning - Inov-8, Salming, ...

Yet, recently I gave in and bought Hoka and Raidlight trail shoes. They do feel great.

So, let's give it a try !LOLZ

Yup, exactly the same here. Flat Salming is great, cushioned Hoka too :)

I love forests, but walking barefoot is not something I normally do there. 😊
You need to have courage and faith that there will be no glass or anything else sharp.👍

Forests are no problem when it comes to sharp objects. Cities are more problematic. This and hot asphalt in the summer. So I stopped walking barefoot in city centers.

When you make a habit of walking barefoot your feet develop a thicker layer. Not a lot harder, just thicker.
And, your feet have eyes on their own :)

City centers are definitely more dangerous to walk barefoot, that is true. 😊
I will have to walk more barefoot to develop thicker skin and a new pair of eyes on my feet. 😃
