The Best Of The Best

avatar

Today I'm going to show you more amazing textile artworks, that most likely you've never seen and never imagined either. For me, looking at these works, analyzing them is like a long journey into the unknown and the hope is to learn something as well, maybe one day come closer to these amazing artists with something similar. But till then, we all have to be ok with the photos I take each year at the exhibition.

Today I'm going to try to mix the works, pick a few very diversified art, that hopefully you'll like.

Kati Bandi - The Tulip

To understand what you're looking at here, the tulip is one of the most important and ancient symbols of Hungarian folk art, which means you often see tulips painted on wooden furniture, or embroidered on costumes, clothes and textile art as well. However, I'm a bit confused with this one here, because the flower doesn't really look like a tulip and resembles a lotus flower, which is not really common here. Regardless, taking a step back an looking it as a whole, I can see the ascendance, which ends in flowering, which can symbolize fruition, reaching the goal.

Edita Cociuba - Twin Relationship

Maybe I should translate it as twin bound. Interesting interpretation of this precious bound that can exist between twins, but it looks a bit off balance, which is not good, the bound should be equal. Equally strong, equally balanced and so on.

Lucia Puscasu - Pride

Pride here means the original meaning of the world, not the one that has been lately attributed to it. I see a quasi abstract nude, but made of textile. It's a bit too colorful for my eyes, but regardless it's priceless, when you think of how it is made and how much work went into it.

Rozália Kozma - Wings Of Butterfly

This will be the riddle for you. Can you see the wings? I can't, so I'll categorize it as abstract. But regardless, imagine forts you need to design the pattern, then execute it. Now my next question is, has this been done manually or with the help of an automated loom.

Rozália Kozma - Code

The artist is not unknown to me, have met her works several times and you recognize them by the color, style and detail. Looking at the details, you'd say it's printed on paper, but it's a wall mat, like a carpet. The details on the four central images are amazing.

Eugenia Goras - Towards The Sky (or highs)

20260528_124944a.JPG

Ana-Maria Rugescu - Clearing

If nothing more, I have learnt a new word here as I've never heard this word.

20260528_125004a.JPG

Evghenia Goreaceva - Song Of Summer

I'm not sure if I'd have arrived to the same conclusion as the title, on my own, but I love the design and the colors even more. That orange is calling my name and maybe I'd be happy to have it on one of my walls.

Ilona Sajgó - Daughter Of The Sun

And we arrived to my favorite textile artist. I would recognize her work at any hour, anytime, anywhere as she has a specific style I love so much. It's delicate, sophisticated and elegant. She's using delicate lace, but not synthetic, which makes her work more authentic. Love it! Undoubtedly this is one of the winners of the day.

Ilona Sajgó - Between Heaven and Earth

This is her second work, a bit different, but you can tell it was made by the same artist. I'd go with the first one though.

20260528_125134a.JPG

Catrinel Teodora Lazar - The Lake

And this is the other winner for me. Look a the colors and imagine how careful you have to choose the fabric to make it look like the water is reflecting the sunlight. Here that effect is accomplished, at least I can see it. Lovely.

Ok, this is it for today. Let me know what you think.

These pieces really are the cream of the crop; each one is more beautiful than the last, and what’s most impressive is the effort that goes into each one. In the case of the first piece, I see the tulip in the same way: something that comes to a satisfying conclusion, a goal, a purpose. The piece Pride is beautiful, colourful and incredibly well crafted, not to mention the time it takes to create it

As for the butterfly, it’s one of my favourites, and yes, I can see the wings. I don’t think it was made with the help of machines; I’ve zoomed in and there are very small imperfections typical of handwork, that’s for sure... it must have taken a long time.

My second favourite piece, although they’re all spectacular, is the last one, the water... it’s incredible, it’s brilliant!!! It’s been a fabulous art exhibition, thank you!!! Big hug!💗

Turns out I forgot to reply to comments here. My apologies 🙈

Looks like the water is the winner as mipiano also mentioned it. There are always a lot of amazing works. Some make you think of a lot of things, even challenge you on figuring out how they were made, the winner is always the one that shocks you in the best way I think.
