Sculpture Salon 2026

This was the name of the latest exhibition I visited last week in one of my favorite galleries. Content changes each month, so I have the opportunity and pleasure to see 12 exhibitions per year for free. It's a very nice gift from the municipality and I highly appreciate it as what you see here are the creation of so many talented artists.

My experience is that sculpture exhibitions are not as common as others, like paintings or photographs for example, so this is one of the reasons I was glad to visit one last week.

Gheorghe Muresan - Light Storage

A very interesting concept executed using wood, but I'm afraid you don't see exactly from one angle.

Gábor Hunor Veress - Multitask

This was a very good interpretation, or presentation of what life has become. That single tool combines three tools you use for gardening. Obviously this is the artistic way to tell the world how life has changed. If you look back to how life used to be a decade or two ago, how many tools we have combined into one today, you can see the meaning.

On the other hand, it could have another meaning, like you need a tool to perform multiple tasks in order to be able to do everything you need, meaning multitasking.

János Gyarmathy - The World Roars

Regardless of how sad this is, it is still a brilliant work with deep meaning. Bullets of all sizes, faces shouting and an egg, it doesn't mean peace, that's for sure. What surprises me here is how can you come up with such an idea. Even the holder, the pedestal is made of a bullet.

János Gyarmathy - Wanderer's Dream

I hope you notice the exceptional talent of János Gyarmathy. What you see on the photo above is a few men sleeping one on top of the other and dreaming about a laid table, with food and drink. The two stones symbolizing the sky is really good idea.

Cantor Árpád Kolumbán - Cry Out

20260129_122441a.JPG

20260129_122451a.JPG

It's not my first meet with this strange creature. Say it last year in another gallery and I said I don't like it. Today i think I can rephrase that into: "it depends on where you're looking at it from". As an artwork, it perfectly illustrates the deep and desperate cry of the man, but it's not a piece I'd like to own.

Gheorghe Popa - Inner Scream

Can you relate to this? How many times a day, a week we screaming in silence, without voice? Although it's very expressive and well executed, it's scary and reminds me of sad things. However, look at the details! It's fantastic.

Vasile Muresan

Yes, you see it correctly, a bird made of kitchen utensils. Imagination has no limits, neither has creativity. Have you ever seen such or similar artwork? I have :) I saw this one last year here, but it was in the other room, the one that is dark now, behind the stainless steal bird.

Mihai Victor Fruza - The Greedy

*Mihai Victor Fruza - Homo Modernicus

20260129_122655a.JPG

I took a closer photo of the end of one of the wires, for you to see what it is. As I see, this is the modern homo sapiens, or should I say the digital era homo sapiens. The truth is, we're connected to so many devices every day and can't live without them.

I can already see some comments saying you can live without them if you want, but I doubt you can manage in a city. Anyway, we all have our opinions.

Now, tell me what do you think of this exhibition? Is it extreme? Or too modern? Or it reflect reality on so many levels. Let me know what you think, in a comment.

It's so cool that it is free to get in. Wow, I am not sure which one I would pick as my favorite. I am really interested in finding meaning in "World Roars". Specifically in the egg. Any thoughts?

We have a lot of exhibitions for free, so i can't complain.

Well, I'm not sure if I'm right, but the bullets symbolize destruction and end of life, the egg on the other hand means the beginning of life. But then again, who knows ...

I was thinking that the egg meant the beginning of new life. Or, that it meant more violence hatching. Like you said, who knows.

Wanderer's Dream is my pick here, the idea is very well executed, the 'dream' actually seems to be floating and the clouds too are genious

Vasile Muresan is my second favorite, it came out very well using not common pieces

Cry Out and inner scream are just too creepy for my taste! The Greedy came out well for the message it carries, greedy and then drown in his own money

I've not thought of it that way, but it makes sense.

You picked two good ones, especially the first one, it's really amazing.

I very much like that kitchen utensils bird, but I am not sure whether it knows how to cook and bake well. Right now, I need some recipes with oranges 😆 and would need some help around the stove. Homo Modernicus is quite accurate 😅

I'm not sure if that kitchen utensil bird can help you in the kitchen, but I'm convinced it would look amazing in your kitchen.

Where's the photo of the dish with orange?

Still just in my imagination hahaha

Van valami jó cukormentes narancslekvár recepted? 😁

First of all, it is an exceptional exhibition, all the works are spectacular and reflect reality from different points of view and I like many of them, above all for their meanings and the way they are made, but I leave you with my two favourites, they are incredible!

Good heavens, seeing this immediately brought to mind "The Scream" by Edvard Munch! 😱... This artwork definitely has a high emotional impact just by looking at it!
