RE: Mesmerized by the Light

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Recycling PET containers from carbonated soft drinks. Someone will put it to some use, or he himself, perhaps to sell artisanal yoghurt.

This tells me there's no buyback program there.

Regardless, you captured some scenes you don't see around here. While looking at your photos was wondering when change is going to happen in Cuba. Change towards a better life I mean, not in worse.

There are a number of pick-up stations scattered around the city where plastic, glass, cardboard and other materials can be collected for recycling. They pay for the materials, but they are not enough, nor is there an infrastructure to separate waste here.
There are people who collect these materials on their own, mainly beer and soft drink cans, glass bottles... but the kind of containers I mentioned are used in many things, from food to chemical products... to tell you a few, oil, petrol, chlorine, paint, glue, milk, yoghurt, tomato puree, pasta sauce, ground garlic... :)

Ah, Erikah... we're in a very bad way... but changes like this don't come in the blink of an eye, not even with roses and caresses... 😔

Thank you!

I was looking at the photos and thinking you must be 40 - 50 years behind and it makes me sad 😢

It's time for a change, a big one, finally. Stone age must end ☹️
