RE: Art Cocktail

Wow, no one has ever written such a nice and detailed opinion/analysis on any of my art posts, so thank you! It is valuable, coming from an artist.
I love reading what others think about the artworks, or how they see them as we all have a different opinion and see things differently.
My understanding is that lots of artist want people to stop at their work and think.
I've never thought at this, but it makes a lot of sense. it's like clickbait titles or news on the internet.
The truth is, I don't go to openings, because of the crowd (you need to wait for minutes to get a spot in front of the artworks) and also it takes away the fun of guessing. You listen to the artist, who tells you what was the idea behind the artwork, then you can't form your opinion. I'd love to speak to the artists after I visited the exhibition, but that's not how it works 😄
I wondered after I posted that if it was ok or if it made you faint because it was so long. LOL.....
I have been to a few openings, but mostly because I knew the featured artist and I was just being supportive. It was always WAY too crowded for me. The artists didn't really explain their individual works unless someone asked directly. I always thought people came more for the free wine and socializing. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I wasn't sure how many were spending time with the individual art or trying to figure it out.
Waiting like you do, gives you time to do what a lot of artists hope people do, look long enough to ponder on it a while instead of just glance and walk on by.
After more than seven years on Hive, nothing shocks me anymore 😆
