Photography Or Art?

Last time I visited one of my favorite art gallery, they were in the middle of taking down one photo exhibition and setting up the other. Lucky me, I could still take photos of the old exhibition and promised myself I would return to capture the beauty of the new one and that's what I did this morning.

Oktober 18 - Fényképészet.jpg

So today I'd like to invite you to a new photo exhibition, that was amazing in my opinion. Looking at the photos at the exhibited photos I was thinking, it would be great to get to that level one day.

The exhibited photos are a selected few from the International Hungarian Photo Salon of 2022, which was the 22nd edition and gathered 1617 photos from 147 photographers from 7 countries. There were 5 categories in which the photographers could participate. So let's dive into the exhibition.

Naskalat

Shame on me, I had no idea what Naskalat means, but because Google is my friend, I was able to find out that it refers to the Naskalat Mountains, which are the highest mountain range of the Csíki Mountains. What you see in the photo, for me it can be described as absolute freedom. This was the first photo on the wall and caught my eye immediately because of the colors. I love that green and blue together and this is all mother nature's work. I hope one nice day I can stand there, and look down the valley, admire its beauty.

The Dying of Light

The title itself is heartbreaking as without light, there's no life. Good thing in this case it refers to dusk and the arrival of the evening.

These photo exhibitions for me are always an occasion to learn and later on you'll see what I mean. In this case you have to be in the right place at the right time, to capture this light at the top of the mountains, but you also have to know how.

20231018_113746a.jpg

Fairy Tale Giants

This is not the first photo of this type, I've seen similar scenes, photo taken in daylight, but regardless of the part of the day, it's brilliant. This is particularly precious due to the hiding light. You need to get out of your comfort zone to get to such a place as they don't come to your cozy living room. Being up at that altitude in the evening, at those temperatures, when the wind is blowing too, is quite a performance.

20231018_113803a.jpg

Birds

This photo gave me Hitchcock vibes. I've witnessed such scene several times, but if you don't have a nice background, there's no point in taking the shot. I'd love to know if this was planned or the photographer was in the right place at the right moment.

20231018_113826a.jpg

Fractal Pattern Lake

This was an amazing one and I was standing in front of it for a few minutes, admiring the outcome. Capturing such a scene is a great performance and most likely can be done once in a lifetime. I mean you can get the drone out every single day, but that alone does not guarantee you can capture such a beauty. And now comes the funny part. I don't know why, but I ran a search using the title of the photo and look what I came across.

Norbert Kovács says:

After the long winter days the lakes were frozen, and one night a snowfall created some peculiar patterns on the icy surface of a lake. It was not a prominent phenomenon and was only visible from a bird’s eye view. I am glad I was in the right place at the right time because I had never experienced such a beautiful texture before. To be seen, a lot of prerequisites must be met, such as the weather, the wind, the temperature, level of humidity, lake temperature, water transparency, the condition of the lakebed and underwater currents just to name a few.

After taking the photo, the fine details slowly started to fade until the whole pattern ceased to exist. Since then, I have been keeping an eye on our frozen lakes in the hope of catching similar fractal patterns. The image was taken in Sikonda near the town of Komló. source

Norbert Kovács is the photographer who took the photo. So you would think this photo has been manipulated, but it hasn't. The funny thing is you can stand at the side of the lake, looking at the water and not see a thing as it's only visible from above. Isn't mother nature amazing? You can click this link and see the photo without the reflection.

Road to Nothing

This was another fantastic photo, the scene, the angle, the point of view was perfectly selected. This is my kind of scene, even if I haven't been able to capture a similar one yet.

20231018_113922a.jpg

Landscape of Gyimes

Gyimes is a small village in Bacau county, Romania. There's a pass with the same name, the is famous for it's beauty. It's on my list and hope one day I'm going to be able to visit and capture the beauty of the place. I'm not sure I'll be lucky to capture such amazing light as in the photo, but it's a reminder for me to look for twilight opportunities as mother nature is generous.

20231018_113940a.jpg

The Sea

The title of this gorgeous photo was in English and I'd say it couldn't be better. This is the perfect one. In 2016 I had the pleasure to wake up to a similar scene in a valley, but this is the next level in my opinion. You have to reach certain altitude in order to witness such a beauty. At that altitude, there's only you, nature (which is in power) and God.

20231018_114030a.jpg

Autumn Signature

There are so many things I could say about this gorgeous photo, but this time I'll let you describe what you see and what it could mean to you.

Yesterday I posted about a lot of amazing paintings with deep meaning. Today here I am, posting a lot of amazing photos with deep meanings. This morning I had no idea I'm going to be gifted this chance, so I'm extremely grateful and consider myself lucky to be able to see these amazing works. For me these are not just photos. Each has a deep meaning, if you know how to read them.

Great photos, great choice on your side, and great review, congrats!

Yes, "capturing" nature on a photo is like having a piece of it with you, in your eyes, in your soul. It calms you, gives you assurance that life is worth living.

By the way, these days, with drones and ultra light planes, phots from air are more common and totally breathtaking. Still, the photographer has to rise early to capture that morning magic light !LOLZ

Thank you @ervin-lemark.

Indeed, what you can do with the help of a drone is amazing but it is not without risks and as you say, the photographer also has to do their part. However, having a drone is an advantage.

Photography of this bird made me remember my village, in my village there are lots of birds flying in groups like that

Well, I also wish that one day I can read that kind of level of skill to be able to capture those amazing photos.
The drone shot of the lake looks stunning, look like a fractal pattern, or you might think it is an abstract macro from afar.

It's not impossible, I think if you practice, you can get there for sure.

The drone shot is amazing.

Wow, you're right, I would like to reach that level too one day :/... These are photographic works that leave one speechless when looking at them...

I was ecstatic looking at "Road to Nothing", that is perhaps a type of photography that I would like to be able to take one day...

Regarding "Autumn Signature" I would say that it is the vivid expression of the author's artistic instinct supported by a great visual angle... I suppose it was made with a drone, but it is truly magical and chromatically supernatural.

As usual, this is a high-quality article, friend @erikah, you have top talent for art criticism, photography skills, and the makings of a reportage author... I love #Hive for finding people like that!...

Thanks for sharing!

Indeed these works leave you speechless but also teach you a thing or two and show you how much you need to improve.

I'm glad you liked the road to nowhere, it's a lovely one for sure.

Several of the photos were taken using a drone as that's the only way at that height.

Thank you again for the nice words dear Jesus, always means a lot to me.

Have a nice day 😊

Wow, this aerial perspective truly captures the artistry and genius behind such road designs! It's amazing how they weave seamlessly through the vibrant tapestry of nature. Engineers and planners surely had a vision when creating this serpentine masterpiece. Would be quite an experience driving on it!

That's right. Every one of the photo shown has their meaning. However, we look at them.

And, I love 3 photography shown. Naskalat, the sea, and autumn's signature seem to be the best. They are eye-catching and got me hooked, unlike the rest.

Interestingly, I learned a new thing today (Naskalat). Thanks for sharing.

The photos you describe from the International Hungarian Photo Salon of 2022 sound incredibly captivating. The image of the Naskalat Mountains exuding a sense of freedom with the lush greens and blues is inspiring. It's always amazing how nature's colors can create such beauty.

Autumn Signature is lovely. Like mother nature signed her work. Or added a swizzle to put it over the top. I've swizzled white chocolate on many dark chocolate covered strawberries in my day. A swizzle can add unexpected elegance.

I have to say a few hours ago I saw your post and admired the beautiful photographs artists while reading the content. But a pain in one eye made me desist from leaving you a well deserved comment but I'm fine now and I'm back to Hive, starting where I left off and it's this wonderful post full of art because these photographs look like an optical illusion. Something surreal. My mind is a bit fanciful, that with Naskalat I went to Heidy's grandfather's hut in the Swiss Alps, with Autumn Signature I went to the autumnal forests of the fairy world where Timkerbell lives. But Fractal Pattern Lake left me speechless. What beautiful photographs you have given us to see and fall in love with here. They are all photographic gems.

Hugs to you 💙

Everything is awesome! And each one really has a story to tell, and we could have different opinions about it.
I noticed to be able to be a good photographer, you need to climb the mountains and do your thing there 😅 Most photos are in the mountains 🤣
I thought you would show us the 1k+ photos submitted to the contest 😂

Well, if you want something unique and extraordinary, you have to do something extraordinary and those scenes wont' come to you dear Witty 😁, so the only solution is to go to them, with a drone.

I thought you would show us the 1k+ photos submitted to the contest 😂

Naaah, these were just a selected few.
