Oldies But Goldies
Not long ago I posted about an oldtimer parade I saw last year. You can check the post here. After that, @mipiano had a similar post about old cars, but her cars were way older and more valuable. If you're a car fan, make sure to check these post out as you may find some old gems you haven't seen till now.
What I'm going to show you is a different exhibition, that I visited this year in April.
The difference between the two exhibitions I visited was huge I'd say. The previous one from October was more of a parade as the cars were passing by me and others and that's how I took the photos, while here the cars were parked and I have the chance to go round them, take photos of them from different angles, which is a huge advantage.
However, even so, the photo shoot was not an easy one. You think if you pick a time of the day when there's no crowd, you can have your space and angle to work with, but in reality it's not like that. This was a Saturday and knowing it's going to rain in the afternoon, all I could do is go before noon. This is the time when families usually visiting fairs and exhibitions with kids, because they have their own routine and they need to be fed at noon, after which comes the nap, so ... I was counting on some obstacles.
What I didn't expect was to find people posing next to each and every car for minutes. You think this is the worst it can happen to you, but you're wrong. Imagine yourself waiting for 3 - 4 minutes for them to finish taking photos, then instead of moving away from the car, you see them standing still for another 3 - 4 minutes, trying to upload the photo to God knows what social media platform. Someone said this is the plague of the 21st century and he was right.
My photo shoot took forever, but I'm sure every photographer has their own challenge, one way or another.
Let's start with this beast, which is definitely not a usual car on Romanian roads. It's a nice Continental in very good condition, compared to its age.
This is a more common car as it's an European make, but what's more interesting is its story, or history.
I'm going to translate what the paper says for you to understand the story.
Citroen 2CV6 Club
Manufactured in France in 1989, registered first in France. From 1996 till 2011 (15 years), the car was not in use, being stored in a garage in Berlin. In 2011 it was imported and registered in Romania. It's a rare model because it has never been restored or repainted. The paint is original.
Citroen 2CV has been the star of the series Gendarmes and Luis de Funes.
This is how you grow the car's value. With a nice story. Is it true? Most likely it is as it can be checked, I mean the paint and the mileage. The reference to the movie is not something you question because no one is so stupid to state such thing if it's not true.
After reading the story, I was wondering how much the owner of the car thinks it worth or for how much they would consider selling it.
A nice red Mazda, which is newer than the previous ones, but still don't see any on the roads.
If I were to name which make had the most representation at the exhibition, I'd say Mercedes. It's a very valued make and not cheap at all. My nephew wanted to buy a model like this, but the transaction fell through as he could not verify the origin of the car 100%.
The problem is, there are a lot of stolen cars brought in the country and you have to know every detail in order to avoid being scammed and sold a stolen car.
A nice Volvo you can only see in the movies.
I'm giving you homework here. I'll let you tell me what make and model is this beauty.
Another Volvo, an older model this time. You see the guy in the red shirt holding his hand on the car? These are the people not realizing they are ruining everything. He stood there speaking to someone, not caring about people not having space to look at the car.
I'm not 100% sure, but to me, this looks like the same make and model as the previous Volvo.
This Renault was a surprise for me. I don't think I've ever seen this model.
If I were to buy one (which is not the case and I double it will ever be) this would definitely be the one. I love the design, it's elegant, and I don't think it's too common these days.
So this is it for today. Let me know in a comment which one is your favorite from here.

I saw a video of someone doing a restomod to a Volvo 122 (the older black one you took a shot of) a couple of years ago. I kinda fell in love with the shape/looks of the car instantly. Definitely a looker and good to see one out and about!
I agree, it's good to see one and most likely it's better to own one :) If you can afford it.
So true, maybe some day both of us will!
I don't know, but fingers crossed for you to have one :)
Absolutely gorgeous, cars when cars were cars not computers on wheels with all these unnecessary ( To an advanced driver anyways) safety features and internet connections.
Fuck the virtue signaller in his clockwork car. Long live the Internal Combustion Engine.
have a good weekend my spleen is vented x
You too @grindle, enjoy your weekend.
Sitting in the sun frying !! LOL
Woww, great and beautiful Old Cars
Yes.
Homework assignment: Fiat 500 Topolino - literally little mouse 🙂 been busy this summer. Fell way behind on posts 🤦 nice to jump back in and see you are still putting out quality content 👍
Lol, I see you know the Topolino well 🤣
I hope you can find some time to get back to posting again.
nowadays people don't care for anything, it's not just on this, there is less respect in general
im pretty sure i still see around sometimes the Mazda and the old Volvo in the streets here... and the blue car seems a beetle to me
my favorite would be the citroen 2CV6!
The wheel has turned. These old cars, if you see them on the streets, it is because the owner is a collector and not because they can't afford a better one, as one might think. Maintaining such a car can eat your budget in no time.
They also consume a lot of fuel from what I remember!
Most of these have a high consumption, taxes are high as well for the same reason, so it's not a cheap hobby.
Wow is all I can say. And they seem to be more valuable than some of the modern-day automobiles. Thanks for sharing, dear.
Some of these are indeed very expensive.
You should make it to Transylvania Classic in Sibiu, as there are hundreds of classic cars and I'm sure you'll love it :) It runs during 7-9 August 😁
Thanks for the recommendation 😀
Maybe next year, although I'm not a huge fan of cars, but it can be fun.
Wow... Some types of classic cars that are very beautiful, unfortunately in my country, I would say classic cars have almost disappeared, which is very unfortunate. As soon as I saw your post, I was so interested in being around them; these classic cars are in extraordinary condition and still very good 😊
One of the conditions to get the Oldsmobile certificate is for your car to be in a very good condition. Being old is not enough, you have to keep it in good condition and this is why it costs a lot. Body parts are very expensive and everything in general is expensive.
Classic cars invading Hive 👏😁
I still have some cars to share 😂
Nekem is van még képem mindkét kiállításról 😀
📸 Úgy tűnik, mindketten szeretjük a klasszikus autókat 😇
Oh my, beautiful cars, excellent photographic record @erikah friend!... That majestic Lincoln Continental has made me remember that here in my town I have seen a similar one (but painted in sky blue) but I have never taken my camera when I see it! :( ... And that wonderful Citroen 2CV!... The Mafalda's dad's car (one of my all-time favorite comics) Beautiful!... Thanks for sharing this!... Have a great weekend!!!
Maybe it's time to do a photo shoot of that blue Continental? 😀
I've never heard of Mafalda, but ran a search now and I've already learned something 😂
