Let's Go Textile!
Today I want to reward myself, not that I've done something special, but you know... I enjoy looking at these textile artworks and want to show you the rest of the photos I took at the textile exhibition. Got some new ideas for new projects and got lucky with the textile too, so Next week, if things go well, I'm going to post something new, in the needlework community.
We have a few textile art fans and hope seeing these wonderful artworks is just as motivation for you, as it is for me. So, let's see what I brought to you today.
Rugescu Ana-Maria - Clearing
This may not be the most spectacular artwork from visual perspective, but if you'd know how it is made, you'd know how difficult it is. It's like a carpet and you have to have the design previously decided and follow it to the millimeter, if you want to get the perfect result. It's like making a drawing or a painting forts, then executing the plan with yarn. Artists creating such beauty have my full admiration.
Gabriella Kovács Gora - In the lap of nature
This was a bit confusing, or like a mystery at first glance, but after reading the title, started to make sense.
Anca Franz - Textile cartography
... aaaaand this is where the fun begins. Basically, it depends how you look at it, like as a buyer, a visitor, or from creator's perspective, but it is brilliant. To be clear, I'm looking at it exclusively from creators perspective and can say combining so many colorful fabrics, to make it look like a woven wall cover was a very good idea.
If you've thought this artwork is made by merging some stripes together, zoom in and look closely, to see how these stripes are made and you'll see how much work is in it. You need a detail oriented mind and thinking, to work out such a design, in a way to not use the same pattern several times. I didn't dare to ask if it's for sale or how much it costs, as I know I have neither space nor funds for this, but maybe I can create something using this technique. Every textile exhibition is great inspiration for me.
Erzsébet Bíró Török - Universe
What does the universe look like? Better yet, how would you illustrate it if you'd be participating with your own artwork at a textile exhibition? I have no idea honestly.

Anastasia Rusescu - Game on 4 heddles
This was a strange one. I mean I understand what heddle means but as I've never seen one in real life, I can't really imagine it or see the meaning.
Felicia Elena Cimpian - The blue planet
Great way to use and preserve old lace and trust me, these were handmade.

This was a strange one.
Ana Hoble - Sunrise
I left this beauty to the end, not because it's the worst, on the contrary (however, who am I to judge), it is a fantastic one and whoever created it, in this case Ana Hoble, deserves recognition. Felting is a technique I've been meaning to try out, but it's neither easy, not cheap, so I need to to study it and also some funds to invest in it.
Looking at it was thinking how you have to choose the colors to layer, to get this color combination, as this is not just random result, you need to create a scene that looks like sunrise. These are my favorite colors, so of course I love it.

Like, this textile artworks are looking beautiful. Truth is that this is my first time seeing textile artworks because have never heard it before. They're looking beautiful.
Yes, there were so many amazing pieces. I'm surprised you're not familiar with textile art. We have quite a few exhibitions each year.
All these pieces are amazing, firstly because of the technique used; there’s something different about each one, but when I saw the sizes, I was really surprised. I like the way the first one is done, although I’d add a bit more colour. My favourites are ‘Universe’ and the last one, they’re marvellous, especially the colours used.
The piece with so many layers of fabric is amazing… can you imagine a rug like that? I know it’s not a rug, but that’s what I pictured.💗
I can imagine a rug like that and would be great, but for that, you need a big room, with light colors and not so crowded, otherwise it's not going to look good :) At least that's what I think. But good idea.
Dreaming is free... let’s be queens who have a huge bedroom. It’s brilliant!
Yes, dreaming is free, but can also hurt if you take it seriously 😄

I enjoyed all of them, but really gravitated toward The blue planet. Not sure why, but I see mostly gentleness in it, yet feel there is a small presence of roughness?. Not sure if that makes sense.

My favourite piece is Clearing by Ana-Maria Rugescu. I agree with you that, to create this kind of art, one needs to be very meticulous. All good art inspires, and in relation to this one, I know you had a good dose of inspiration since you enjoy sewing so much. The art of fabric patchwork has always caught my attention. And well… yes, some materials are more challenging than others, whether because of their delicacy or their hardness.

Yes, this is a special kind of art and I just hope it's going to spread in the near future. I hope you've seen textile and fiber art exhibition in real life too.

I’ve come across it in galleries, but far more at street art fairs. Nearby, I even saw some elderly ladies with a project. Textile art is lovely — I meant patchwork, but I enjoy embroidery and other styles too. Can’t wait for your post; you’ve got real talent for tote bags.
