Hungarian Photo Salon 2025

This is an exhibition organized every year. Last year it took place in Lendava, Slovenia. The title is a bit tricky and no matter how hard I tried, could not translate the pun in the title, so let's just call it Hungarian Photo Salon 2025. It is organized for Hungarians all over the world, but I don't know if participation is reserved exclusively for Hungarians. The winner photos and not only, then are traveling to different cities and are exhibited in different exhibition rooms for everyone to see.

The reason I love these annual exhibitions is the exceptional photos you can see. These are not just random photos. These are the best works of the best photographers in different categories and you can learn a lot from them as well.

Last time when I visited the exhibition, the edition before this, was thinking, what photo I would submit, if given an opportunity to participate. You see, everyone these days, who has a mobile phone with a camera, no matter how old and updated it is, considers themselves a photographer, which is fine as you're entitled to believe what you want, but this is a different level as there's a jury and the competition is fierce. The answer is, I don't know if I would have a photo which I consider worthy to submit.

Ibolya Katalin Horváth - Denis Shapovalov

An expressive photo, speaking of a lot of emotions and passion, by the well known versatile musician. Black and white was a very smart choice as the focus here should be on his face expression and move, but I was wondering how could the photographer choose this position.

László Molnár - Hopelessly

If you know what hopelessness looks like, you can recognize it in this photo for sure. It's a monochrome again, but it captures the essence very well.

Csaba Hátszegi - Green Apple

I always have mixed feelings about these photos. From pure photographic perspective, it's brilliant. Look at the framing, the girl is in the center of the photo, the baby blue wall serves as a perfect background, the light is highlighting her copper red hair and the green apple is the cherry on the cake, if i can use this expression, as it adds a very nice, bright color and draws the eye at that point as well.

On the other hand, I can't pretend not to see the obvious poverty in the photo. That's a very old adobe house in a very bad condition and it tells you all about the living conditions.

Hajnal Pataki - Spinning On The Platform

If you'd like to have an idea about what brilliant means, you should have a look at this photo. If this is not brilliant, then I don't know what is. First of all, you need an empty platform, a person to do the spinning and a moving train in the back, but these ingredients together don't guarantee you success yet. You need some skills too. Hajnal Pataki definitely has some.

Gábor Mónos - Portrait of Traditional Cavalry Captain Péter Csepin

Photograph taken with archaic method.

Most likely not the photograph you'd hang on your wall, but it's still brilliant and got a mention at the event.

Dr. László Simon - Memento (bronze medal)

Botond Vass - Fire In The Sky

This photo got bronze medal in the youth 1 category, which is under 15 years old. It's a brilliant photo.

Even though we don't know anything about this photo or the photographer, it's a brilliant one. Simplicity makes it brilliant. There were a few labels still to place on the photos and this is why there were a few incognito.

Each and every photo exhibition is an inspiration for me and I keep saying the day when I'll be taking such photos will come, but those scenes and portraits or landscapes don't come knocking on your door, you need to go find them :)

It's really cool that you visit such exhibitions and have the opportunity to share this fantastic experience and impressions with us. The last photo is extraordinary, it seems like minimalism, but how much beauty is in this photo, wow

Yes, I've been sharing my experience on Hive for quite some time as there are so many who don't have the same advantages I have. You picked a very good one, that last photo is fantastic.

I enjoyed all. However, if I had to pick. Me personally, it would be "Gábor Mónos - Portrait of Traditional Cavalry Captain Péter Csepin." It is probably because I can relate to the military man. The worn face. The stories that face tells. The stories he wises he didn't want to know.

Most likely you understand better what is, or could be behind that face and look, we can only guess. Nice pick Joe!

I love the last one for its simplicity, the one of the sea because I love the sea and it is a beautiful moment of the day, but if I have to choose one for all that it means it is this one... it has the exact colour, the perfect position and it transmits a lot... it makes my heart clench.

That is one of my favorites to for so many reasons. One that I didn't mention here is the combination of blue and green, which I love, but the colors have to stay in line as there are other reasons, more important that this.

I can imagine it, what it conveys is strong, sad and melancholic at the same time.

I was once again convinced that I understand nothing about photography – I didn't like any of it. 😂
Sorry, I'm stupid.
