How Old Is Old?

My new goal this year is to get everything up to date, solve problems I've been delaying and also to speed up what process needs to speed up. This includes reviewing my photo files and post the photos I haven't so far. They say photos are always good, even if they are old, but that's not true. Let me give you two reasons to back what I'm saying up.

One of the reasons is, technology is evolving. I've been on this platform for more than 7 years now and had 3 phones. I'm not the type to buy the newest model as soon as it is released, but sometimes you are forced to buy a new phone. The one I am using now is 4 years old and I'm happy it still does the job. Each model is better than the previous one and you can imagine the difference between the camera I have now and the one I had in 2018. What was extra quality in 2018 is now ... ok maybe, but sometimes not even ok. So waiting years to post your photos is not what you should do.

The other reason is obsolescence. I took some photos in May about my dad's garden. After coming home, things got a bit crazy and when I had the time to post about it, after a month or so, it was pointless as everything grew so much, the photos were not relevant anymore.

How Old Is Old.jpg

So it's good to keep everything up to date and not procrastinate things too much, which is why I'd like to post the rest of the photos from the oldtimer exhibition (before the new one knocks on the door :P).

20250426_111739a.JPG

A Mitsubishi Pajero, maybe the only one as I don't recall seeing several at the exhibition. At these exhibitions sometimes you see several cars of the same make and model and there are many missing, so if your car is the only one, you're king or queen :)

20250426_111752a.JPG

This is the famous (in my country only) Dacia, made in Romania. You always see several of them as it was made in Romania. The ones that have original settings are highly appreciated.

20250426_111820a.JPG

Most likely we all see cars in a different way, but for me, this Mercedes is the king of oldtimers. It's an elegant, luxury car, especially when it's in a good condition.

20250426_112016(0)a.JPG

Same make, different model, a newer, more luxurious one. Too bad it was half in the shade and the photo is dark, but I bet you have seen this model before.

20250426_112046a.JPG

Same make, different model, similar color. I'm not a huge fan of this color when it comes to cars (there was once a make and model with this color, widely used by the wrong crowd and made me hate it), but it looks good on these models. They say you should choose a color that stands out on the road, definitely not grey which looks like the asphalt on the road. This color definitely stands out.

20250426_112152a.JPG

Same make, different model, different color, but a very funny one.

I'm 40 years old. Thank you!

This is what it is written on the side. Most likely this finny text makes a lot of people smile, but I was wondering what the owner is going to do next year, when the care is going to be 41?

20250426_112202a.JPG

If I already posted a few Mercedes, I thought let me post them all, to see how many they were and what models. Don't ask me to list the models as I have no clue, but most likely there are a few users here who could tell us all.

20250426_112337a.JPG

If I were to buy one, this would be the one. It's top shelf in its own category in my eyes.

20250426_112424a.JPG

20250426_112436(0)a.JPG

To break the streak, here's something different. It's a Ford Coe, made in 1936, which means it is 89 years old and has an impressive story.

According to the paper, it was bought in 1954 from the driver who was driving it. According to the old owner, the car participated in the 2nd World War, after which a tank was installed on the back, to transport fuel. At the time of buying, the car didn't have the original engine. The restoration works lasted for 5 years and after that, the car participated at different events in 2009 in Romania and in 2018 in Hungary.

There was a phone number on the paper, which I cut out as it has no place here, but I was wondering if it is to contact the owners in case you want to buy it, or rent it out? Although no one in their right mind would rent out such an old car. Who knows. I can still call them :)

I'm really curious if there's someone among the readers, who had one or maybe several of these cars? Let me know.

I love these Renaults!!!... There are still some of them running daily on my streets (not as beautiful as this one, obviously)... Excellent post, thank you so much for this @erikah friend, I love seeing classic cars!...

It's not a Renault, but you're not dead wrong either. They bought the make from Renault and adjusted it a bit, but still looks like Renault.

I'm glad you like them and stay tuned as there's more 😉

You've been doing this ever since you registered, all your comments are spam, one or two word comments, saying nothing.

You really think saying sorry would change something? If you don't have anything meaningful to say, then don't comment.

Of course, it is important to finish the work on time without delay. It is also good to keep everything updated. Seeing this old car exhibition made me want to drive an old car again. Old cars are in high demand in the area where we live because of the attraction of foreign tourists. Anyway, thank you for sharing a group of photos that evoke old memories.

I thought you're from Cuba, when I saw your comment, but it looks like not only Cubans need old cars.

i gotta say with the phones i noticed the same on pictures, the new ones are miles ahead of phones of even 2-3 years, with my last ones im not even using my camera anymore as it photograph worse

the first 3 are quite old, the others not too much, sometimes i still see them around, i've grown with those... i never owned any of these

the king is the ford truck indeed!

Phones and cameras too. You buy the best you can buy and after 2 - 3 years the new ones know so much, that your photos can't keep up. I often see people posting old photos, from a decade or two and ... oh boy, the quality is crap.

Yeah, some cars are old, others not so old, but I have another set, that is older than these.

Pajero is very cool. Despite the fact that the model is old, in some ways it surpasses modern models

You're not alone with this opinion. My nephew is a huge car fan and he says cars made 10 - 15 years ago are still better than the new ones. He has just bought a Volvo, the last model made in Sweden as after that, production moved to China.

I have no idea what this means. I asked Presearch AI for help and this is what I got

I have no choice but to ignore it as I don't know what you mean.

Hum or hooomm. It is actually an affirmation. In Iran, we use the word (hum or hooomm) when we completely agree with something and we know that the person is saying something that is in our favor. Read it as it is written. While nodding our head as a sign of approval. If I was late in answering your message, I should say that I was in an area where I did not have a mobile antenna. I am willing to take a video of myself and send it to you so that you understand what I mean. I would like to communicate with you more on Telegram. If you are willing, I will send you my Telegram account.

Hello, dear erikah, I have replied to your message, but in my notes section I see your message again. Is this an internet error or not? Have you sent me the message again?
Was I able to convey to you the word (hooom), which in Iranian parlance is a confirmation of the words of our counterpart who is thinking of us in a friendly way and has made such a recommendation?

it's always amazing to have a collection of a vintage classic cars..it's a treasure for a collector..despite their age all the cars look well maintained,,clean,,and probably running in a good condition..😊

It is amazing, but it is also a very expensive hobby. To have the oldtimer certificate, which increases the value of the car a lot, the car needs to be in very good condition, no rust, no engine problems, inside well cared for, outside too, so it's not just about owning an old car. You can see, most of these look like almost new :)

That Mercedes is so cool. I wish I can have one in the future. And yes, it better to put something up-to-date, especially those who have seasonal quality. Some photos are good posted up to date. Phones are changing and we have a series of phone release, but it doesnt mean we have to buy it and I am happy thag you made it here with your 4-year old phone. We have the same phone age😁 It is still also doing the business.

If you have the necessary funds, you can have any car you want.

Regarding the phone, looks like next year I'll have to buy a new one, I can't avoid it, but still, 5 years for a phone is a very good performance.

Interesting. This shows how time flies. These vehicles were the talk of the town back then. Now they seem to be relegated. Innovation and changes rule the world @erikah

Thank God. As a figure of speech of course as God has not done the work to get us where we are, people have. Obviously not every country is going forward, some countries are going backwards unfortunately.

Poor leadership is culpable for the retrogression that many countries have faced today. Quality leaders need to be elected to drive all countries forward.

Yeah, blaming leadership is the easiest thing to do. Voting them gets you there.

Hahaha. But we know how most of them get there. The electoral system in most of these countries with bad leaders are flawed. The electoral umpires are NOT impartial @erikah

I'm sure we can't compare the whole process in your country with the process in orher countries.

Governments come and go, they can be replaced if they don't perform and people go to jail if they abuse their power.

Anyway, as long as most of the citizens are only looking for shortcut, steal what they can, who they can from, lie and cheat, there's not much to expect.

How nice to read your post on this rainy day in Argentina. Like you, I have to organize my photos. I have a lot of material on my phone to post on Hive, so as soon as I can, I'll get that organized.

It's a little sad, but it's true that every four years, you're almost forced to change your cell phone.

I don't see it as sad because you get a much better one. The truth is, with technology developed at break neck speed, you need one if you want to keep up. Most likely life is a bit simpler in your country but here you need a phone app for a lot of things and you can't live without it unless you decide to live in stone age, like some, who can't keep up with the world.

Excellent photographs of the cars. Good recommendations about updating the photographs. I have many that I haven't published due to time constraints, and I would also like to buy a new camera to take beautiful photographs.

Yes! In a way. Just like these cars they were well maintained throughout the years to be called retro years later and not old baskets. Same is with a person if you maintain yourself well eat right and exercise yeah it's more well put to be visually pleasing enough to be called Retro at an old age but an old man. :)
