Back To Black And White Portraits

As I've promised, I'm back today with the rest of the photographs I took at the last photography exhibition. If you've missed the first part, you can check it out here. It was an exceptional exhibition and based on the comments, many of you liked the photos, so I hope you enjoy the rest too.

20240321_121347a.jpg

Let's start with this wonderful photo. There's not title yet as I want you to judge the photo for what it is. What do you see? An old lady, holding her apron and smiling. Most likely you can figure out she has lived a very simple life and the happiness on her face is something I would definitely appreciate. I've been around ladies like the one in the photo and it's a joy listening to them, telling stories.

Why is there no title, you might ask. Well, there is a title but I decided to hold it back till now. The title of the photo is: At The Age Of 102. Des this change things? It does, quite a lot as you look at the photo with different eyes now :) Would we live to her age? I doubt I will but who knows. Anyway, at her age, she's still active and ready to do chores as she's holding her apron.

Foggy Morning

Sorry for the reflection, the original photo is amazing though.

20240321_121420a.jpg

Master of Wheels

What you see on the photo is a wooden wheel used for chariots. It's a piece of the past as you don't see chariots or wooden wheels these days, but maybe there are places where old vehicles still get repaired. I love the angle the photographer used. It's a very good photo.

20240321_121445a.jpg

Simplicity

Simplicity is the perfect title to this photo and I would add happiness too. It's interesting that everyone wants to be happy but these days not many are. We're chasing wealth, hoping to bring happiness, then when you accumulate wealth, you find out that wealth does not bring happiness. The people you see on the photo have lived a simple life, difficult as well, but they know what happiness is.

Frozen Time

This photo may have something to do with the one I posted in my previous photo post, just taken from a different angle, making the sky and the tree as background. If you'd use the word simplicity here, would be right. The weather looks pretty dangerous, but regardless, looking at the photo, it makes me think of calmness. Up there, the only master is the weather. It's a fantastic photo, taken from a perfect angle.

20240321_121517a.jpg

Window To A Lost World

Another fantastic photo with a great title. The world this old man represents, does not exists anymore. Windows like that are also rarity. This is why these photos are more valuable than you think. But if I were to give a title to this photo, or say two words that fits, I'd say again simplicity and happiness.

20240321_121530a.jpg

The Ox Cart

Again, this photo is going to become history soon as machines have taken over, you rarely see such scene.

20240321_121542a.jpg

Life Experience

If this photo does not win you over, then most likely you don't understand what it means. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but this is a fantastic one too.

20240321_121604a.jpg

Forgotten

There's a lot of emotion here, I hope I'm not the only one seeing that.

20240321_121614a.jpg

The New Rake

In a world, where everything is made by machines, here's an old gentleman, making rakes by hand. His beard is also something to envy.

20240321_121812a.jpg

Hope in Hopelessness

Another fantastic photo, that says a lot without words. It's heartbreaking to see the old lady kneeling in front of the cross, praying. Look at the power of nature, the dark and threatening sky, which may be due to editing, but it's a good addition nonetheless. There's so much power in this photo.

You know how often I post about paintings and I'm always trying to figure out what the artist meant. That is my interpretation, which may not be the same as what the artist meant. In case of photography, things are more clear as there's no abstract, just clear photos, but even so, there's a lot to read in these cases too. These portraits I posted today are from that category. You see what's on the photo, but there's still a lot to read from the photos.

@dimascastillo90, I hope you like them as there's more 😆😘

The appearance of black and white images is very interesting and I think black and white images are art images and I like black and white images.

At The Age Of 102. I thought it was a hand bag or market bag, with the open door - I thought the title would be "Stepping out" 😆

Great photos. Such powerful portraits

Black and white pictures may not be full of colors, but they are definitely full of emotions! These photographs are amazing!

There's a reason photographers choose black and white and that is to eliminate the distraction and focus on the details.

This is art in its purest form

I couldn't agree more. It is art indeed, and of the highest quality as it's not easy to find the subjects nor the perfect setup. You know that as you're an excellent photographer :)

Have a nice day my friend!

There are too many emotions here my dear @erikah, in this second part it becomes more difficult to choose 😅 Still, my first choice is Forgotten and my second choice is Life Experience... Imagine if we could see what is inside those looks, those gestures and emotions... There is a whole life inside and each look allows us to imagine things.

I think I need people of this age as models 😁 You are responsible for my forays into new themes in photography. 😂 but I love it 😍

There is more? I can't wait for it 😃🔥

Amazing second part my dear @erikah Huge hugs for you 🤗 and a couple of kisses 😘😘😌

I can see why you chose those two and fully agree with you, both are excellent.

There is a whole life inside and each look allows us to imagine things.

You're right about that. I have known people like the ones on the photos and can tell you, they are like a history books. They can tell you a lot of genuine stories and you learn simplicity from them.

I'm glad you liked these, it's lovely that you can appreciate this kind of photography. Hugs and kisses to you my friend and enjoy your day/evening 🤗😘

Black and white can produce such beautiful art. My favorites are Foggy morning and Window to a lost world. Timeless just like their subjects. Aging to 102 is pretty impressive. Thanks for sharing this simple yet gorgeous exhibit. xox

God damn! These are all so emotional to watch, almost makes us all think either about our parents or grandparents! Even if some of them are smiling or trying to pose happy, they definitely have a way deeper story inside their hearts!

Exactly! I think we all know someone who fits the profile and have met a few people like them over the years. It's a different world. Each of them is a history book I think.
