At The Photo Exhibition
Yesterday I went to an exhibition that had two sections, one was sculptures, the other was about photography. Yesterday I posted about the sculptures, if you've missed the post, you can check it out here. Today I'd like to show you the photography part, so buckle up as it's going to be an interesting ride.
Usually I have mixed feelings about photography exhibitions, as I don't like staged and over exposed photos and nature can be nice, but some photos are just not right. However, I'm trying not to miss any occasion as there's always something to learn, if you have an open mind and keep your eyes open.
This exhibition was not a big one and I only took a few photos, but those were gems in my opinion. The photographer is a local journalist, György Vajda. But let's get to it. (I had a draft, half of the post ready, then the draft just disappeared, after I had to restart my laptop, so now I have to rewrite it.)
This was not the first photo, maybe the second or the third of the exhibition, but when i saw it, my my feet got chained to the ground. First of all, I'm never seen any photo wrapped in barbed wire but even though this is a sad story, it's the appropriate thing to do and expresses a lot, without saying a word.
The photograph is called In Memoriam Holocaust. On the left, clothes on the ground, which most likely symbolizes the stripped off clothes before sending people to the gas chambers. The photo in the middle is pretty mysterious, it can symbolize souls, but it's just a guess. The one on the right is about the grieving families, the old lad is lighting the menorah.
This was called The Holy Road. It's a bit strange for me as that locomotive has nothing to do with the rest of the scene, there are no visible rails there.
Historical Price Reduction is the title, but I suppose they mean historical sales. I only saw the photo, not the scene itself, but I believe these are live statues. If I'm right, this is brilliant!
This was a brilliant one, but unfortunately reflection killed it. It's a porch view, throughout the hole. That's a traditional porch, made of wood.
This is how people used to carry rudders they gathered here and there. Maybe you can still spot a scene like this at the countryside.
This was another very cool one. It's called Ecological Footprint. You can see how the ecological footprint has changed over the years, arriving to look like sneakers.
Seashell Culture
Twilight
Aura
This is a brilliant one. I don't do portraits, but this is just lovely, it tells a lot even without words. You can see this scene at the countryside, when women are working the field, although it's getting more and more rare as in many places the work is mechanized.
Harvest
My House, My Castle
So if you could only use one word, to describe this photo, what would that be? Happiness, what else? Simple life, happiness.
Transylvanian Cowboy
The title given by the author is a funny one, although I would never name a photo like this that way. These poor people are going to the pasture with the only treasure they have, the cow that gives them the food to put on the table. My heart is aching when I see old people still doing the hard work, as this is definitely not easy.
Requiem For The Reading
This was also a cool one, but could not get a clear shot, reflection killed it.
Overall it was a very cool exhibition. I hope I can take similar photos one day.
Let me know if you have a favorite today :)

Yeah I've a favorite as always! Mine was Aura. It's a really nice portrait and every line on her face seems to tell something about her life.
Looks like you're not the only one who likes Aura. It's a fantastic one by the way.
The last one would be my fave! Even when you said reflection killed it, it’s still so nice!
Lovely exhibit!
Yes, that's why it's a shame I could not take a better photo, but it's still wonderful. It was indeed a lovely exhibition.
Hello friend @erikah , very nice photos of that exhibition, no doubt they are photos that convey some feeling.
Greetings and success for you.
Hi there! I couldn't agree more.
Thanks for stopping by and have a nice evening.
Oooooh, I like Aura!!!
I have a dream of one day photographing faces of people across many different cultures and countries, close-ups, like of that woman in the Aura photo. I'm not sure why I feel so compelled to do this; while I'm not much of a photographer this dream has lingered in my mind for decades now. I can only guess that it has something to do with building bridges between people and that if someone can only look into the kind, vulnerable, happy, loving eyes of another human being that looks nothing like them, they'll realise that, in fact, at the core they're exactly like them.

Aura is very popular :)
Your dream is a good one. If it has lingered in your mind for decades, then it means a lot and you need to give it a try.
The truth it, capturing moments like the Aura photo is more than just capturing a photo. These are not staged photos, these people don't know how to act for the camera, therefore you can capture their real face. This is why I like these photos. You can build bridges between people but unfortunately nowadays people are not happy when you want to take a photo of them, which I completely understand by the way. This is why I don't do portraits.
However, if you decide to start making your dream come true, I'd be happy to see your photos :)
