At The Fair, Again
When the good sunny days ended, I thought it was the end of the fair season too, which is what usually happens. However, it looks like not everywhere though. Today I passed through Targu Mures and saw a fair in the city center. It was a small one, but even small fairs can be fun, so I went quickly to see what they are offering people there.
After so many years, you kind of knows what to expect and after a first glance I was able to see what I'm going to get there.
First the obvious ones, like kürtős and lángos, that can't ever be missing. Cotton candy as well as I saw the maker.
At the time of my visit, there was not much interest in buying kürtős, but till I looked around, there were a few already grilling. For those of you who don't know, kürtős and lángos are traditional products you can find at every fair and event.
Pickles also can never be missing from any decent fair. I'm always looking at these drooling but we have so many at home, it would be foolish to waste money buying more.
Honey, or course, the bear and the bee! I've been telling you that I've been looking at those little bear bottles as we had such ones when we were kids and I am always remembering those times when I'm looking at these bottles, so today I asked the lady how much would cost one. She said 15 lei, which is 3 euro. My jaw dropped as that's a lot in my book, but then again, with the latest price surges, nothing surprises me anymore. I would have bought one, or maybe would have gone for the rapeseed honey, but I have honey at home, so I moved on, as I knew plenty of temptation was waiting for me.
Chrysanthemums are in vogue now as the 1st of November is coming, which is for us to remember and commemorate those who are not with us anymore. These flowers are tied to this event forever I think, although I like them in my home as well. For me these beauties represent autumn.
Besides chrysanthemums there were different decorations, among which these pumpkins filled with flowers. I liked them and would love to have one in my imaginary house 😃
Lavender is also a regular at every fair and I'm always taking a photo quickly and moving on quickly because the scent is too strong for me. I never buy any product although I like how these look.
Another honey vendor, with so many goodies, I had to make a stop here and buy something.
I bought a box of 100% organic pollen, which contains not only vitamins, but it strengthens the immune system as well.
This is how it looks like, but be aware, this is macro photograph, so those balls are really small.
Another honey vendor with more goodies.
Bags, backpacks, purses and wallets, a lot of beauties. At the fair I was in love with this red backpack, but now looking at the other products, maybe that blue would be more suitable for me. I like the design better and the colors too, my coat is blue as well. The problem is, it costs 70 euro and it's not original leather.
There was another leather vendor, selling belts and bracelets. Belts I don't need, but the bracelets caught my eyes from far. However, when I went closer to have a look saw that those designs were not for me. Yeah, I'm fussy.
Leather gloves, as winter is coming and it can get quite cold here. You don't want your fingers frozen when there's -25C outside 😁 and with all the cards and things we're carrying, a wallet also would be nice.
This is half of what I saw at this market. The rest is coming at a later date.
Sooo, what would you choose from here? I'm curious to see what would be your preferred product.

One would be sure of being tempted to get a lot of things at the fair if care isn't taken. For a place like this, I would be forced not to get anything I didn't budgeted for because I might end up stocking my home with a lot of “no need” stuff 😂😂 but again, the hike in price would save me too not to squander my money on too much of amazing things at the fair.
I know what you mean as sometimes I need to hold myself back as there are so many cool products. I have learned tot to spend too much, although today I bought a few things :)
I'm glad you understand my point. It's good for one to hold himself or herself back from not being tempted to get many things when you only planned for a few things.
I would try the kurtos and langos because I am curious and of course honey. I love honey with all its health benefits.
Those are good choices, but also full of calories 😁
It was so nice to be in that place @erikah. But there is one thing that caught my attention. The engraving on the bag is very similar to one of the handicrafts at my place called Kerawang Gayo. You can see it here.
Thanks for sharing this some similarities in culture have become even more so here. Sometimes the question arises, why do many people still prioritize differences even though togetherness is much more important?
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'm going to have a close look tomorrow as tonight I'm too tired. Looks like I need some rest :)
looks like a fun day out
It sure was.
I suddenly think if fair here was already started, so I could roam and buy something cheap ehe ^^
By the way, is that a cakes in the lavander area? That will I choose if it is hehe 😁
Sorry to disappoint you, there's no cake there, those are cosmetics with lavender 😃
I would love to try the products with honey. It's nice to take a lot of those products there. I'm sure I would grab a backpack or a sling bag if there's any.
I was tempted to buy more honey products, but have learnt self control over the years :)
The bags were cool.
If I were to choose one of these items, not for myself but for my girlfriend, I think it would be the red belt in the photo. It's a color that suits her very well. Fairs are going on all over the world. The other day there was a flavor festival in my city but I missed it.
By the way -25 degrees sounds very cold. Very, very cold.
That is a good choice, a quality product and I'm sure she would love it.
Flavor festival? Sounds interesting.
And yes, -25 degrees is very cold, you can barely breathe.
I guess I've seen -10 but can't think about more ❄️.
It happens rarely, but still, there's a chance every winter :)
Waw Everything looks very beautiful, whether it is an exhibition or a weekly weekly week, in my place there is no such place, it is a pity😅
I am indeed lucky as I've been to so many such fairs.
Yes, it seems like it's a lot of fun
These are lovely, she's really talented. Thanks for sharing the photo.
Thank you, Erika, Very sweet comment. With these months left to finish the year, she has bazaars scheduled on weekends. 😊
Congratulations, your post has been upvoted by @dsc-r2cornell, which is the curating account for @R2cornell's Discord Community.
Thank you.
I love that type of fairs, you can get everything there, many times we don't even know what we can find
Yeah, that's the problem, you go there and spend all your money 😁
Now we are going through such a difficult time that it has become impossible to shop in stores. Our only solution is fairs and markets. I am very happy that you showed us products that I have never seen before at the fair, which was established in this charming province of Romania. I loved the flowers at the fair. I also feed at home. I would love to get them. I would also like to buy the organic pollen box that strengthens the immune system. Thank you very much for showing us this beautiful fair.
I'm sorry to disappoint you, but that's not the case here. These markets are very expensive as these products are craft products, handmade and in most cases there are unique products too. This is the beauty of it and that's why these markets attract people, but as I said, sometimes you pay double.
