A Walk In The Park

These photos were taken on the penultimate Sunday of March, with the intention of posting it in Wednesday Walk on Wednesday, but as you can already guess, that's never happened. Why? I can't even remember. Most likely I posted something else that day and then never got back to it. Till today.

I remember it was a very nice, sunny, but cold day. Cold doesn't scare me, so I went to see the place that is my refuge in the city. It's a medieval fortress with a large park and not only.

The place has a long and interesting history and after 1989, it was given back to the rightful owners, which is the city, the people of the city.

These small and humble spring flowers were blooming and you need to be blind not to enjoy them, after so much grey during the winter.

This is one of my favorite spots to take photos from. If I were to give a name to this photo, or a title, that would definitely be "Past & Present", for the obvious reasons. In the back you can see the fortress church, built in the 14th century and in front of it the glass done, which is the product of the 21st century and serves as conference room or hosts different events, during festivals too.

Unlike so many churches, the inside of reformed christian churches is simple, like this one.

This lovely fountain is the latest addition and what I love about it is that they have respected the medieval times and have chosen a style that matches those times.

This is a very cool thing and each museum and public place should adopt it. It's a mock-up of the whole place and the description in Braille, for blind or visually impaired persons. It's true, today we have voice activated apps for almost everything, but it's one thing to hear what you're told and a completely different experience feeling the text and the mock-up with your hands.

The statue of János Hunyadi (1456), was a leading Hungarian military and political figure during the 15th century, who served as regent of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1446 to 1453, under the minor Ladislaus V.

Tomorrow I'm planning to visit the place again and these flowers will be long gone. Let's see what other flowers I'm going to meet, seasonal flowers, as they always make sure to have wonderful flowers.

For so long, this place was used by the army and civilians could only set foot inside the gates, when they were called, but obviously no one wanted that. Now it's back to the rightful owners and this is what happens on most days.

This was another very cool thing. An information board about the city's natural wonders. It's a great way to educate children and not only.

I've posted about this open air photo exhibition, which is an excellent idea and I'd love to see such initiative in as many places as possible.

And this is the cherry on top of the cake. A well, that is just a decoration today, and serves as a flower stand, always full with flowers of the season.

How can you not love it?

And this is how things must be done. I bet in many countries threes like this are cut down as that's the easiest thing to do, but here this one is protected. There's a wooden support to help hold the weight.

Love can be expressed in many ways. This is one of them, a very cute artwork.

Tomorrow I'm going to take new photos hopefully. Let's see how much the place has changed since then.
