A wonderful garden in the middle of the city
Experience with Agriculture
Greetings dear friends of this wonderful community, I am here again to show you my experiences discovering urban crops in the least thought areas.
This weekend I went for a walk to several places in a neighboring city on a short family trip, that helped me to relax my mind and also to enjoy the spaces of nature.
A few months ago when I came to visit my aunt's house I accompanied them to buy bread in a nearby shopping center, in that opportunity I saw that there were large extensions of gardens that were totally lost, the land was dead and cracked, there were no more plants only almost dry grass, I remember it very well because at that time that gave me great sadness, my mind imagined that at some time those spaces were a beautiful place for nature, but like many things in my country the lack of water and lack of investment of money for maintenance at that time were already a kind of vegetable cemetery.
But I leave the sad part there, it is time to tell you and show you with photos how the organization of many people can do great things, it turns out that with the initiative of some merchants and neighbors held days on weekends to revive the spaces, at least that told me the man of the bakery who gave me permission to take pictures.
At first, they began by pulling up all the dry grass and cleaned everything to condition the soil that they fertilized by burying the vegetable shells and other vegetable leftovers from the restaurants of the same shopping center, then they spread some bags of organic fertilizer that they bought in a nearby nursery and between all of them they plowed the soil, stirring it for about 3 weeks until it seemed to have life again.
Other nearby businesses, upon seeing such a beautiful work to rescue natural spaces, decided to make donations and thus collaborate, among the businesses was a hardware store, which offered material and implements to fix the water intakes and ensure irrigation, so a group of people selflessly joined forces to rescue these abandoned gardens and transform them into an urban garden.
In the photos you can see how one of the areas was dedicated to the production of flowers, among them those magnificent sunflowers that make these spaces so beautiful, filling them with life and color in areas where concrete reigns.
In another of the galleries they planted fruit plants, here in the photos I show you how a small pineapple is already growing from one of them and also the papaya plants that are growing quite well to be in such a busy place in the middle of the city, the experience of photographing a pineapple was fun for me, I had never seen them so small and less in the bush where they grow.
The last thing I show you is the vegetable area where some tomatoes are growing, and some other roots are also planted.
