winter comes to the beech forest

the beech forest that crowns the city of Larvik is charming at any time of year, especially winter. the snow covering the ground brightens up the place, and though cold and naked it feels much more inviting than in the darkness of late autumn.

when winter comes early it catches many of the trees with a few remaining leaves

later in the winter there should be enough snow for some wonderful cross country skiing on the trails but for now walking on the new snow is easily managed with a pair of nice warm winter boots

the winter forest is much more open and the low pale winter sun shines between the lower trunks

back on the road that splits the forest there is a great view to the fjord and the land to the south. while the forest is covered in soft white snow the road is icy and slippery, especially driving sown the hill so while undeniably beautiful, winter does have it's down sides.

Precious photos of that beech forest in winter, which, as you say, stands out against the whiteness of the snow. Best regards, @eolianpariah2.
