starting the new year with a sunrise walk on the beach

Happy New Year to all hiveans

what better way to start the new year with a sunrise walk on the beach. it was a long loud night but we were intent on starting the year this way so we tore ourselves out of bed and within a few minutes there we were on the wonderfully serene beach. it was cool with just a hint of breeze and some mist off in the distance. in addition to enjoying the walk we had another goal in mind and were on the way to see if any of the fishing boat crews had been out to sea rather than partying in the dark wee hours. and if so we wanted to buy some of whatever it was they had managed to catch.

looking back south a lone soul was out enjoying the peace and solitude after what was likely a rowdy night

somebody had performed a ritual and left this beautiful garland in the sand

sure enough the fishermen had been out in the night and had already beached their boats and were busy cleaning the nets.

as the rising sun began shining through the trees along the shore the beach was still nearly empty, just a few others, likely in the same errand as us, hoping to buy some fresh fish

on the way home with fish in the bag we spied our neighbors approaching, out for a morning walk. we don't see them very often so had a good chat before making our way home.
