in India we get our drinking water from our well. because it is filtered through 5-6 meters of white sand vertically and who knows how much horizontally it's very good water and can be drunk direct from the well. however occasionally we get visitors from other countries or from cities who for whatever reason prefer to drink bottled water. when that happens we don't buy 1 or 2 liter bottles- instead we get a 20 liter bottle. it's far cheaper and likely to contain far less microplastic. also one pays a high deposit for the bottles which are returnable and reused so the amount of plastic waste is reduced.

these are all great reasons for buying the 20 liter bottles but there is another reason that's almost inevitably overlooked. they cast nice shadows! and i don't mean just the shape because they are for the most part transparent as well. so in this contest image part of the shadow of the window grill is visible on the bottle itself but mostly both the light and shadow manage to pass through the transparent plastic and land on floor which is tile and marble separated by a thin strip of black granite. the shadow of the steel window grills and wooden mullions and muntins make a nice shadow alone but the addition of the bottle makes the whole image more complex and interesting.

Strange that people prefer to drink out of plastic rather than from a clean water well. When my well was drilled and the water tested, I got a handwritten note back from the lab saying 'this is some of the cleanest water our lab has ever tested' . Some people still prefer to drink water out of the refrigerator that goes through a filter.
Your bottled water makes a great shadow photo though!
