in Esplanade Park in Riga, there's a wonderful exhibit of all different vibrantly colored birdhouses on a tree called the Colorful Tree. it's in central Riga, between the National Museum of Art and the Nativity of Christ Orthodox Cathedral. you can't miss it if you are visiting either place. it's a eye-catching work of art by local artists though i am not sure how many of the houses are occupied by birds. we were there in October so i wasn't expecting there would be much activity so late in the year but we were told that in the spring there are lots of birds utilizing the many colored houses
