contest entry: Norway summer red

summer is a great time to tour Norway. this shot is from the Panorama Road near Stryn on the way to see the Tvinnefossen waterfall

a road trip in western Norway inevitably invollves taking a few ferries across the fjords. on one ferry we discovered a veteran Austin Healey 3000 that was on the way to meet up with other Austin Healeys in Balestrand

the road to the falls was full of curves so i had to pull over when my wife had a spell of car sickness. fortunately she recovered quickly after a short walk to the falls where we were able to enjoy the beautiful unspoiled falls alone together with an overlook of the fjord. it's not the highest of falls nor is the amount of water exceptional but the main thing that makes it special is the 'dry' path right underneath it.

a red rusted steel door at a mountainside farm

and of course there are troll stops and troll shops along the more famous scenic roads. this was at Trollstigen Camping. i must make a post about that awesome place soon

back home in the garden with a great view of Stavern harbor and our favorite water bottle. the tap water here is very good but there are trace amounts of chlorine in it. nothing as bad as most places i have travelled to but still i prefer to keep the water in a glass bottle overnight to let the chlorine dissipate and i drink it at room temperature even in the summer. many people think it's strange but temperate water is better for digestion. that's something i have learned from ayurveda and it's definitely true.

around town there are various historical wooden buildings. most are painted Stavern yellow which is a mustard color but sheds and barns are traditionally painted barn red

summer is berry season and there are some great spots for red raspberries nearby. for wild blueberries we have to drive a ways

Svenner lighthouse is on an island 5 km off the coast. plenty of people take the trip out to the scenic islands in their boats. there's also a shuttle a couple of times a day in July. it's a great adventure that i have posted about last year.

back on the mainland the rose hips are getting ripe. the summer is short here so we have to enjoy it while we have it so i've gotta go now

I have enjoyed this tour and with the photographs. I loved the red door of the farm and that rusty hook on red wood.

Thank you very much for sharing these images. Greetings, @eolianpariah2.

thanks for the nice comment. that red door is a work of art with latches to keep it shut and the boards with the hook is an oil painting in disguise
