Remembering Our Visit To Keffi Of Nasarawa State Nigeria, With A Friend For A Job Interview Around September 2021.
I remembered four years ago 2021, my friend Joel called me on the phone and told me of a job interview he wants to go the next day and he wanted me to go along with him if am not doing anything and I told him I won't go anywhere so I will follow him. I remembered we went to the facility together and when we entered the hospital we were asked to sit down at their OPD and wait for the medical director because he steps out an hour ago. My friend Joel was a bit nervous because the facility was very big and both the inside and outside looks so beautiful and neat than the previous one he worked before he left.
We waited for about two hours before the medical director came to the facility. When he came in and met us seating at the OPD, we both stood up and greeted him and he said I am so sorry for keeping you young men waiting this long even though one of the senior nurse called me and told me you are waiting for me but I was attending to a lot of patients at the federal medical center Keffi (FMC) as one of the scientist working there.
The medical director is a government worker in Federal Medical Center Keffi, but he have his own private facility, a very big facility for that matter. At times he used to referred patients from that government hospital to his own private facility to run some tests and do treatment. Most of the government workers, especially the medical workers working in a government hospitals have their own private hospitals that they are running.
So , when the medical director went to his office I sat down at the OPD while my friend went inside with his credentials at hand for the interview because that day was the day the interview was set by the medical director even though the time was far gone but my friend and I came earlier before the actual time has been setup for the interview which is a proof my friend kept to time and is very serious for the job. But the interview has not been held at the exact time 10am because the medical director was not at the facility for about two hours. When my friend went inside the medical director office for the interview I was outside seating hoping and praying in my heart for the success of the interview and I pray my friend Joel got the job. After few minutes my friend came out from the medical director office smiling at me and I smiled back believing he has gotten the job because of such smiles on his face.
When he came closer to me and told me he has gotten the job and the director told him to start three days after and keep to time. He will be coming to work from 8am and close by 5pm daily except Sunday is his off day. I was so happy for my friend for getting the job that day. I asked him how much is the payment because things are hard and feeding is something one needs to consider before taking any job that doesn't pay well. My friend Joel said the payment is 50 thousand naira (50k) without accomodations.
But the medical director told him that there are good accomodations just few kilometers away from the facility, precisely at the back of the facility where his former and present workers do stayed and is 65 thousands naira for a year. My friend and I went to the place and check out the available rooms and is very good. He has agreed to stay in one of the room and said he needs to pay before someone else comes and pay before him. He asked me if I have any money with to add to his own and complete the rent payment and I remembered I gave him 5 thousands naira that day. We both went home happily and joyfully. He source for a means and gotten the remaining money and pay for the rent and park in and few days before he started working in the facility he was employed newly.
Few weeks he chatted me and told me how good and busy the facility is and how nice the medical director is to him . It seems he is lucky in this new facility he is currently working now. I told him am glad he has gotten a good job at least and most importantly owner of the facility which is the medical director is nice to him. Working in a facility where you and all the nurses and other staffs have good communication, you people talk and work together happily is something to be grateful and thankful for. If you're working in a facility and doesn't have a good racop and not in good terms with other coworkers you will never enjoy working in such facility. I was so happy for my friend Joel that day because the two recent jobs he worked before he left wasn't good for him at all. The last facility he left before getting this job was because he had issue or problem with the director of that facility. To an extent if he comes to work late the director will shout at him and speak ill manner to him and threatened to sack him if he misbehave and so many things like that.
But this job he has gotten is different, the medical director and other nurses are nice to him within this few weeks of working with them. Then a year after, I visited him in his place of work and when he closed from work he took me out to a nearby restaurant where he bought me food and we had drinks together.
I slept over in his house and came back home the next day. I remembered he gave me 10 thousands naira as my transportation back to my house akwanga. He reminded me how good and supportive I was towards him and I even went along with him the day of the interview. I was so happy our friendship is growing stronger and the bonds between us keeps growing more than before. It's was indeed a beautiful memories to look back on again and again.
