Rearing Of Goats At Home // My Father's Goats.

My father is an agricultural man and animal scientist that study livestock and agriculture, and deals with anything that has to do with plants, livestock and animals. He retired over seven (7) years ago from civil service. I remembered when he retired, he told us he doesn't want to stay idle without investing his little pension that the government will be paying him at his retirement but wants to invest it and expand a small rearing Goats business. At the beginning we have only three goats at home, two females and one male. My father bought another one female goat and a male goat to make it five goats. He said he wants those male and female goats to stay together and fertilize then give birth to so many young breeds.

Already being an animal scientist he knows the kind of drugs and injections he normally used to give those goats. At times after 2 months he will give them drugs and Inject them, I don't know the name of the drugs and injections he uses to give them but normally used to see him doing that. He will give me one particular powder and asked me to spray the powder in the goats room after cleaning all the dirty from the room, and applied the powder in their body as well.

I believed that powder kills some insects or pest or parasites in their body and make the goats stronger and stayed healthier I can't remember tell. From five (5) goats to nine (9) goats presently. When I saw how the goats are growing and keeps giving birth time to time, I know that's a good business idea my father have brought to the family. He said I will be responsible to taking care of the goats feeds, cleaning their room after two weeks or once in a month.

And I will be making sure I checked the goats time to time to see if they're are all doing fine or not, to check making sure no rope is too tie on their neck or the goats mingle with each and got rope cross tighted themselves. At night if I hear the cry of the goats, I will wake up from sleep to check on them to know why they're crying that night. Most of the reasons why the goats do cried at night maybe because the rope is righting them too much in their neck and is causing them pain or the goats mingle crossrope themselves. When I realized the cause of the problem then I will sort it out.

In the morning before taking my bathe to go my place of work or anywhere I will make sure I go out and cut palm trees, cut some specific grass as food and bring it to the goats and feed them . Taking care of this goats is something I have become used to it already. The moment I walked up in the morning I know what to do as my daily house chores and I will do it before doing my personal work. I have been feeding the goats and taking care of them for a very long time now, to an extent the moment they heard my voice they will rum come to me.

Especially if the goats see me holding palm trees or their food they will be jumping and climbing my body to eat the grass from my hand. I can enter the room, clean the room, park all those dry sticks and dirty grass outside and this goats will not be scared of coming close to me because the goats are even closed to me too, is like as if they can perceived my smells .

The goats also know the person that has been feeding them regularly. I noticed it few weeks ago when one of my distance brother took some grass to them and the moment he jumped and entered the room the goats were just running round the room running away from him. It because they are not used to him but if am the one who enter the room they will not run but come even closer to me and be eating the grass in my hands. You can see for yourself the goats are looking good and healthy, is due to proper feeding from me and constant treatment from my father by giving them drugs and injections time to time.

Agriculture is not all about farming, it cover farming, rearing of animals or livestock, fisheries ,plants, and a lot of them. With the knowledge of agriculture you can start a farming business or livestock or fisheries business or any kind of related business of your choice and it will yield good for you.

I know my father will sell some of the goats ws times goes on and generate money from it. Even though he retired from civil service he still has something doing that will be giving or bring little income to the family. It is indeed a good business and a good source of income for the growth of the family.
