Wildflowers, Bridges, Bees and Painted Ladies on the Canal

While I’m cat sitting for a friend, I decided to take a short drive to the local canal. It was only five minutes down the road. The weather was warm again, and everything looked very green. There was free parking too, which is always a bonus. I like finding places to go without having to spend money!
A coot and a mallard with her ducklings swam past, while a bee searched among the wildflowers for pollen.

The canal is very pretty this time of year. Wildflowers lined the water's edge, while bright yellow meadow buttercups filled the adjacent field. Dog roses, foxgloves, and oxeye daisies were also dotted everywhere.

I also saw a lonely red poppy swaying in the breeze. Hopefully, there will be plenty more soon.

One of the nicest surprises was seeing a couple of painted lady butterflies. They fluttered around the flowers and rested for a moment on the towpath before flying off again.

As I carried on walking, I passed over a few bridges crossing over the water. It was only a short walk, but I still managed to see a lot while I was down there.

It really is very green, the landscape around here is beginning to look much drier, though the trees are green the grasses have been suffering in the heat somewhat. Haven't seen any foxgloves yet, so will keep an eye open for some over the weekend.
We've had a couple of downpours during the night, which has helped. It's the first foxgloves I've seen this year.
Very beautiful😍
