Wednesday Walk: A Walk to the Church and Around the Park

As I am staying at a friend's house for a few days, I thought for my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay, I would walk up to the village church and around the park to check it out. Firstly, I passed the thatched pub which was unfortunately closed. It was sunny but dark clouds were looming overhead.

I spotted this car sticker along the way. Never a truer word said!

It was only a short walk to the St James Church along the road.

Once in the graveyard, I decided to follow the sign for the Peace Garden.

In May, the Peace Garden marked 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

After leaving the church, I followed the footpath that would eventually take me into the park.

I could see the church spire that I'd just visited in the distance.

There is a local ambling group that meets up for very short walks every month starting in the park. It's accessible for all as it's all on the level. It's a way of getting people together, especially if you are isolated.

As I set off back, I noticed some youngsters having a game of cricket in the distance. I'm sure with the dark clouds overhead, rain will probably stop play at some point.

The peace garden looks very clean and seems if we sit and spend time on this place we would have peace of mind because the place looks so cool.

That Peace Garden sounds like such a hidden gem. Love how these walks can lead to unexpected quiet spots with real meaning.
