Walking Along the Teversal Trail and the Pleasley Pit Museum

We had a circular walk on the Teversal Trail which is on former railway lines on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border.

We could see the Pleasley Pit Museum, a reclaimed colliery in the distance, including the 130ft chimney.

As we got a little closer to the pit museum we spotted the old colliery winding wheel.

It was even more impressive close up. The walk links old coal pits together, that are in the area.

There was a nice little cafe at the Visitor's Centre as well that was run by volunteers.

We followed the old railway line passing under a bridge.

There were some lovely views along the route. The paths were very good underfoot. I can remember seeing a slow worm slithering across the path when I was out cycling. Unfortunately, I hadn't switched my gopro on correctly, so I missed it! Schoolgirl error!

As it was quite sunny, a lot of other walkers were out, along with dog walkers and cyclists.

It was an interesting walk, relatively flat, and with the mining museum and the old railway trackbeds, it had lots of history along the way.

I'm pleased they took the opportunity to utilise these old track beds for walking, cycling and horse riding.
