My Last Beach Walk - Ocean Lover's Writing Challenge #5

Travelling down to the Dorset area to meet up with a friend was a bit uncomfortable as we are still in the throes of a heatwave. The air con on the coach was quite good though, and I did take my neck fan with me, which also helped. We decided to wait until later in the afternoon before heading out for a walk, as it was far too hot earlier in the day, especially for the pooch. The sun was strong and the pavements were burning hot, so it just wasn’t right to go out in it.

When we did set off, for the car journey, we made sure the pooch was kept as comfortable as possible. He wore one of those special cooling coats that you soak in water before putting on, and they really do work. You can see the difference straight away, as it helps keep their body temperature down while still letting them enjoy being outside. In fact, they ought to make them for humans as well.

Later on, we reached the sea near Hengistbury Head, which was a great spot to cool off. The pooch was really enjoying himself in the water.

If I could swim, I definitely would have joined him! I did go for a paddle, though.

I love watching the little ripples where the sea gets trapped. There are so many tiny things to notice by the shore.

After a walk along the beach and one very wet, sandy pooch later, we went off for a refreshing drink.

Lovely. I feel happy knowing you two cooled down a bit by the sea. I know how bloody freezing the water can be on the Dorset coast haha. I haven't been to that beach though. We used to go to Ringstead all the time.
That pooch coat is amazing. All the weather reports we are getting here and no one is mentioning the dogs. Here everyone has air con and in the shops too so we can survive, pets and all. Phew.
Thanks ever so much for joining in!
Oh, my pleasure. It's good that there's something different to write about.
I've never known the sea to be so warm, though. Usually, it's cold and takes your breath away.
