My Entry to the Phone Photography Contest - Round 111

Coming back from my morning walk, I parked at the side of the road to take a few photos, as I’d spotted a few potential shots as I drove past.

At this time of year, the roads look really lovely, especially with the cow parsley growing. It's also nicknamed 'Queen Anne’s lace'. I can understand why as the roads look lined with white lace. It will look even better in a couple of weeks when it is fully out in bloom.

This road was blocked off last week for maintenance work, and loose grit had been laid on the surface. I liked the look of the truck tyre prints pressed into it, especially where they ran next to the tree. I was glad I had an old car, as the loose chippings aren’t good for the paintwork. Thankfully, the grit will bed down more as traffic goes over it.

Next to someone’s stone wall there were forget-me-nots, cuckoo flowers (lady’s smocks) and honesty flowers. Each of these flowers is known by various names.

There are fields of yellow dandelions that change into white fluffy balls called dandelion clocks. The clocks are made of tiny seeds shaped like parachutes. When the wind blows, or someone blows on the dandelion clock, the seeds float off through the air. The seeds land on the ground and grow into new dandelions. Dandelions are obviously weeds, but I think they still look nice, especially when there's a lot grouped together.

It was only a short walk around a small area, but there was lots to notice along the way. The roadsides and fields were all full of the colour of spring. It’s the kind of walk where you don’t need to go far to see something interesting, and it was all very pretty. I'm glad I stopped to look at it.

Thank you to @untilwelearn and supporters for running the Phone Photography - Round 111 contest.

What a lovely post! The wild flowers are a real treat and there are plenty around here. Cowslips are especially abundant plus the cow parsley and hogweed, trying to remember the difference between the two.

I must check out the contest you’ve entered and take part.

Thank you @nicklewis. I went back to the same area this morning and it was raining. You know how it goes! 🙂

That is typical. Definitely got the shots whilst the going was good!

Your posts bring a smile to my face every single time. If one were to take a morning walk in a place like this, the entire day would be filled with positivity. :)
