Feathered Friends: Willington Nature Reserve: Meeting Greylag Goslings

We visited Willington Wetlands Nature Reserve, which used to be a sand and gravel quarry but has since been transformed into a nature reserve. It’s a nice way to spend a few hours birdwatching and enjoying the outdoors. Along the footpath, there were Greylag Geese with their cute, fluffy goslings.

The reserve has lakes, reedbeds, and open grassland, which makes it a good place to see different types of birds. Lapwings were easy to spot at the side of the lake. The paths around the reserve are easy to walk on. It's a chilled place to visit, and there is always something to see, especially during spring and early summer when there's a lot of bird activity.

The Reed Bunting was one of the easier birds to spot around the reserve, sitting out on the branches. The male stands out with its black head and white collar markings.

The Sedge Warbler was tricky to photograph because it kept darting back into the reeds.

As we were leaving we saw a Great Crested Grebe swimming out on the water. Overall, the Nature Reserve is a great place for a walk, birdwatching or photography.
