Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 220
It was an overcast morning as we visited the Longshaw Estate which belongs to the National Trust. The estate has over 1600 acres to walk around, covering the moors and wooded areas. Today, we just popped in to see what birds there were on the lake.
This is my entry to the Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 220 - Theme: Young Bird.
I've seen Mandarin ducks many times but I've never seen any Mandarin ducklings before. To start off with, I thought they belonged to the mallard duck so it was a nice surprise when I realised they belonged to the Mandarins. They are very similar, though.
There were also ducklings from the mallard ducks but they were older. They all came out of the lake and cuddled up together and had a sleep on the side. They looked very cute and didn't seem to be bothered by people walking past taking photographs.
Thank you to @nelinoeva and the #featheredfriends team for running the competition.
Very nice photos of these youngsters! Hope the sunshine is out soon.
