Discovering the Beauty of the Countryside

I live in a beautiful part of the UK, in Derbyshire. I've put together a few photographs of around the county starting with a little bank vole that always appears in a stone wall. They tend to eat small insects, fruit and nuts. A lot of dog walkers leave food for the birds on the wall so this little bank vole knows there's an endless supply of food.

We were lucky enough to spot a group of red deer peacefully grazing in a lush green field. As we stopped to take a better look, we also noticed a Canada goose sat looking on.

The Manifold Trail is 8 miles long and follows the River Manifold through the Manifold Valley, and the River Hamps. The name ‘Manifold’ suggests the ‘many folds’ of the river.

This is the Eagle Stone on the Derbyshire moors near Baslow Edge. Custom is that before young men can marry, they have to prove their masculinity by climbing onto the top of the rather large gritstone. It looks like someone has managed it!

Beautiful countryside. So green and peaceful. Who put that big rock there?! Some giants might be having a fight so they threw stones and rocks at each other. Some rocks might have been buried in the hill through time.

There must have been a lot of giants as we have a lot of rocks. 😊

Thank you. I'm lucky as it's only a 20 minute drive to the countryside.
