A Visit to Conwy, Wales: Conwy Castle and the Smallest House in Great Britain

While in Wales, we caught the tourist 'hop on, hop off' bus to Conwy and had a wander around the town.

The commentary onboard gave tourists some interesting information about the area. The weather was a bit overcast and rainy, so there weren't many people on board today!

We disembarked to look at the 'Smallest House in Great Britain'. It measures just 72 inches across, 122 inches high and 120 inches deep, and is in the Guinness Book of Records. Source

I could definitely live here. You'd hardly have to do any housework as it's that small.

In the middle of Conwy is the majestic and rather imposing Conwy Castle that was built in 1283 -1287 and over 700 years old. Source

You can go inside, but this time, we just walked around the perimeter.

I love these iconic red phone boxes. I spent a lot of time in my youth walking down to my village phone box to phone my friends up, especially in the school holidays. They're not really needed now, so they are repurposed. This one has a defibrillator in it in case of a medical emergency.

The Knight Shop where you can get the history of your surname and for a fee, have a scroll printed out. I passed.

Conwy Marina and Quay is a nice place to have a little mooch around, with the castle in the background.

As it is out of season it was fairly quiet.

We popped into the shopping centre to do a bit of Christmas shopping. I like to start early.

No blog would be the same without a photo of a gull. They get everywhere!

Overall, we thoroughly recommend using one of these buses when sightseeing. You get to know the local area much better by a knowledgeable tour guide, and you get off and on when you want to or just stop on if you can't walk far. 👍
