A Cruise Stop in Cádiz: History, Sea Views and Sunshine

Sailing on the Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas cruise ship we called in at Cádiz, Spain. It was a real mixture of southern Spain’s history, culture, and chilled atmosphere.

Thankfully, after we arrived at the port, it was easy to step off the ship and start exploring, despite the midday heat. Cádiz is a beautiful old city with narrow streets, colourful buildings, and lots of history around every corner.

One of the first things I noticed was how walkable Cádiz was. We wandered through the streets, looking at the traditional architecture, small shops, and local cafés. The city has a nice charm to it, with hidden squares and pretty corners that make you want to stop and take photos.

We visited the Cádiz Cathedral, which is one of the city’s most famous landmarks. Its golden dome stands out as you approach. The nearby streets were full of life, with people enjoying coffee, chatting, and taking in the sunshine.

As Cádiz is located on a peninsula, the sea is never far away. We enjoyed walking along the waterfront and taking in the views. It was a bit too hot though, so I was glad to get back into the shade.

There was also a cat colony on the rocks. It was obvious they were being looked after as they had their own cat shelters. Can you spot the little black cat sunbathing?

Although we were tempted to explore further into the region, including nearby Seville, we decided to spend our time enjoying Cádiz itself because of the heat.

I did enjoy watching the man making the big bubbles, though.

Overall, my visit to Cádiz was a memorable cruise stop. It may not be as famous as some other Spanish destinations, but it had plenty of character to keep us exploring for most of the day.

Nice!

I went to Cadiz as well as a cruise stop, but I can't remember much of it as I've been on a few cruises and different ports. I just checked my Cadiz photos, and saw I visited a T shirt shop there and bought some funny t shirts.

After a while, the memories for all these places tend to get blurred unless there was something special about it. That's why Hive is so useful to jot down those memories.

That made me laugh! My friend did the very same thing and bought t-shirts for her sons. 😁

I've said por favor lol. I don't think I'm very confident. My friend knows some spanish. She's realised while she was ordering some food, she asked for the hairdresser by mistake. Hope you are ok.
