I used to have chickens; I had a pet rooster; he was a Barred Rock breed; a nice big boy and then the coyotes came. I've never been so angry; angry enough I allowed my teenage boys at the time, to sleep on the roof with rifles so that if they came back, they could shoot them. They didn't come back.

Slowly, a predator picked off my entire flock one bird at a time despite our efforts of reinforcing the aviary they were in. It was sad. I don't keep chickens any longer, but do enjoy watching them when I get the chance to be near a flock.
