Cleanup Time!………My Actifit Report Card: December 12 2025

The water has receded in Everson. We were able to drive down Main Street whereas yesterday, it was a raging river! The doc had asked both myself and @silvertop, to come to work today to work on the cleanup. We arrived before he did and began. @silvertop working on extracting water from the carpet while I dealt with the lower file drawers full of wet and dripping patient files. Argh!! It kind of makes me wish we were on an ER file system! I lugged trip after trip of wet files upstairs ( about 30-50 trips-I lost count) Did I mention wet files weigh much more than dry files and those are heavy enough! 😅

Some folks were going door to door distributing food. We received a large pepperoni Dominoes pizza! How very kind! We were truly blessed! 😇

Everything is so wet and the humidity is off the charts! I spent my time between the files and then cleaning out the beneath cabinets. Did you know just how absorbent TP and paper towels are? Imagine them bursting at the seams in their plastic wrappers! Super heavy-almost too heavy to get out the door in a garbage bag! 🙀

Water is different as it enters this building. The deepest is towards the rear of it with the left front and right corners less so. In the back the water mark was a good 12 to 15 inches. Take a look at this old computer monitor. It’s a really tall one and it was housed in the middle of the building, coming in between 10 to 12 “ deep.

This satellite dish heater although hard to see in the photo was in the back where I work. It was a good 15 inches deep there! Water line is where white line is.

We both worked about six and a half hours with virtually no break. The doc had left to go get a sump pump and reinforcements to come help, but was gone for about 3-ish hours of our time there. I know he’s tired as he spent yesterday doing water extraction all afternoon.

As of this evening, the river is finally down below flood stage.

We were fortunate that despite all that water, the doc’s chair for exams still works. The phone lines and internet modems still work. Even the battery backup unit, despite its second time around for floods, still powers up and works! We created a good sized garbage pile that he loaded up into his minivan and took to a free dump site for residents and businesses. It’s been a day-that’s for sure! I just hope that I can actually move when I wake up in the morning!

This is flood number two within a 4 year timeframe. This one was worse for us than the 2021 flood by far!

Afterwards, we took the long way around to Lynden post office to ship my #silvergoldstackers community’s Secret Santa gift to my person! It should arrive well before Christmas! 🎅 🎄

When that was accomplished, to Starbucks for a much needed coffee, ham and cheese croissants and then we shared a pull apart cinnamon pastry! We were seriously hungry and that was a super tasty treat! Yum!
