Visiting the Forest Temple Wat Umong

Hey dear Hiveans, at the beginning I would like to welcome every reader to my contribution and hope you have a weekend so far which has not brought only joy but also some exciting experiences into your life! Also today I would like to offer you some insights into one of my travels and am happy if you appreciate my work.

I have already seen some temples during my trips but Wat Umong was again a very own experience and in my last post already shared something about the Huay Kaew waterfall and this was the place before I went there. The special thing here is not only that this temple is actually located in the forest, but is even one of the oldest of Chiang Mai and the traces already go back to the 14th century. Not only the surface is already remarkable enough but also the underground as it's one of the few temples that have an underground tunnel network which is accessible to all visitors. Inside the tunnels, I could see one or the other wall painting and one of the most important purposes for the tunnels is clearly meditation because people can really withdraw here undisturbed and no disturbing factors of the outside world can be found. I would describe the construction as rather simple and there is not much to tell about it here, but I found it particularly interesting that more corridors are connected to each other and there is a form of the entire tunnel network and I found the atmosphere inside also really unique.

The temple is of course the highlight but there is much more to see like some animals as well as a wonderful nature and as I have read there is even a centre for meditating where I was not sure if I can go there, but I believe that it should also accessible to visitors. Even without a meditation, the visit was already spiritual enough for me and there are some special Buddha statues to see here and in addition to the cultural aspects it's a perfect place to find peace because only a few sounds can be perceived here and worth mentioning is also the cold which is generated by the shade of the trees and especially for warm days this is probably the best change. It's really perfect for a relaxing day trip and finally I would like to briefly share my day trip again and before I went here, I visited the Huay Kaew waterfalls and then Doi Suthep which turned out to be a perfect excursion in every respect and perfect for a good trip which will last the day!
