Visiting the Jingshan Park in Beijing

Hey everyone, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you have a week so far which is full of interesting experiences! In this post I would like to share something about an experience I had in Beijing and I am happy if you like my contribution.

A few days ago I already shared a post in which I wrote something about the forbidden city and on the same day I also decided to make a visit to the Jingshan Park which is located in the immediate vicinity. It's a park which has a lot to offer and is extremely cheap from the entrance and the not worth mentioning fee is probably more of a joke in relation to what is offered and here you can certainly spend a few hours which are full of different insights into the culture. Directly in the middle of the park is a large hill on which traditional buildings can be found and especially unique in every respect is also the view that visitors have from there to the forbidden city and also it's the highest hill in the whole city which was actually not natural created, but by human hands. Overall, there are various pavilions on the hill which were built by the Qing Dynasty and are associated with a deep symbolism and it's also a popular place for people to take a break and here you can also read various texts which go into more detail on the history. Historically this place is also closely connected with the Qing or Ming dynasty and there are also many connections to the forbidden city and the park probably served as a kind of additional protection.

It was also the scene for some events that have not always been positive and once a well-known emperor from the Ming dynasty hanged himself there on a tree, which is why memorial plaques can also be found here. The reason for the suicide was that at that time some enemy troops were already in the city and the emperor knew no way out and decided to take his own life, but despite this tragic story it's not considered a place of bad luck. For residents of the city it's probably one of the best places of retreat which also offers plenty of space for leisure activities and foreign visitors can experience the different facets of Chinese culture here. There are some small stands where people can eat or drink something and in general I found that the entire facility was extremely clean and I also found some facilities which offer historical insights.

Very beautiful flowers!

Hang himself, strange suicide for a Japanese emperor

You visited the terracotta army too?

No, one of the ming dynasty. In retrospect, I would have liked to visit Xi’an, but I have not yet managed to do so.

Incredible places with a lot of history to tell and share with humanity, while at the same time, as you say, the price-to-price ratio of what they offer us must be "Economical."

True, the fee is more of symbolic meaning.

What a pretty place, I love all the ornate decoration and how much skill it must have taken to produce it. Plus making a hill by hand must have been a huge undertaking back then. No bulldozers, all by hand or cart. Amazing! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
