Here you can see a work of art by the French painter Robert Delaunay (1885 - 1941) which also has the title Hommage À Blériot, which means homage to Blériot and was created in 1914. He created the painting in honor of the French engineer Louis Charles Joseph Blériot (1872 - 1936) who is known for his inventions in aviation and to better express this, he has depicted some elements of his work in this oil painting like a biplane that is flying over the Eifel Tower and I particularly like the various stylistic devices with which the artist has worked. Delaunay was born in Paris and because of some problems in his parents' house he moved to his uncle to the country which lived in La Ronchère and there he also attended a school which he ended early because he wanted to devote himself more to art and he decided to start an apprenticeship as a set designer and at the same time he painted his first works and was inspired by Impressionism. He decided to take a path as a freelance artist and French culture and especially his birthplace always played a huge role in his inspirations and some time later he moved together with his wife with whom he also had a child, back to Paris to pursue his art in a studio. In his initial years, he was more active as an independent artist and visited numerous exhibitions and a few years later he also sought more contact with other artists and also joined the well-known artist group The Blue Rider about which I will go into more detail in the future. Together with other artists of this group, he went to exhibitions a lot and his popularity grew more and more and during the Second World War he traveled with his wife to Spain and Portugal and there he went back to his art and this painting is a typical example of his own style which is particularly expressed by the colors and abstract shapes and a typical characteristic of his paintings are the circular patterns and to this day he is considered one of the most famous painters of his time.
