Hey dear Hive community, first of all I would like to wish you all a pleasant day and hope you were able to make one or the other experience! Today I would like to talk about the symbolism and mythology of a mineral and hope you can learn something new.
You can see pictures of different quartz specimens here and it is historically strongly anchored and one of the most interesting minerals and very appreciated due to the numerous properties of many cultures. From a symbolic point of view, quartz was often appreciated as a protective stone which had the ability to strengthen the inner self and improve the energy level or strengthen communication and quartz is a very common mineral on earth and even on the moon it has already been discovered. The ancient Greeks thought that quartz was frozen ice and according to a legend it originated from the tears of Lysithea which is also known as the daughter of Okeanos and the ancient Greeks also often saw it as a gift from the gods and it was used a lot for spiritual purposes at that time. In ancient China, quartz was particularly known as a raw material to make sculptures or other works of art from it and also in ancient Egypt it was used to produce jewelry or decorative articles.
In ancient Egypt, quartz was also very important for various types of ceremonies and quickly recognized the material value behind it. In ancient Egypt, it was also believed that it had the ability to rejuvenate the body and was often worn by pharaohs as jewelry and the rejuvenating and healing properties were also appreciated by more cultures. In Hindu mythology, Quartz was often associated with the rays of the rainbow and similar to the ancient Greeks, they also saw it as a gift from the gods and was also of great importance for meditative purposes. The ancient Romans used it to make mirrors from it and the Middle Ages also shaped it to a great extent and was of great use for the production of art objects and during the Middle Ages it became more and more popular and there was also a large branch of trade created around the mineral. It was often worn by traveler's as a protective stone and Quartz also became increasingly important for goldsmiths and was used for the production of various jewelry such as amulets, necklaces or rings and can also be found in many antique crown chandeliers or other artworks.
