The Legend of the Loch Ness Monster
Good day dear Hive community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you had a day that was full of positive experiences! Today I would like to talk about mythology and hope you can learn something new.
Here are some pictures that I recently took of a lake and I find that the light fog gives the pictures a very own and mystical atmosphere and I would like to discuss an interesting legend associated with waters in this post. The pictures were not taken in Scotland, but I would like to use them to go into more detail about the well-known monster of Loch Ness, from which one or the other may have already heard something. When it comes to legends about monsters that live in waters, this is probably one of the most famous in the world and some well-known personalities and institutes even firmly believe in the authenticity of this being and there are still numerous researchers and tourists who are behind on the trail of this monster. It is believed that it is supposed to be a snake or dragon-like creature that is said to be over 20 meters long and has a long neck and horns that stand out on the surface of the water and even the old Celts who had been in this area at that time probably believed in mythical creatures and depicted similar ones already in their artworks. The first documented traces that specifically point to the monster of Loch Ness can be traced back to the Irish Scholar Columba which traveled through the country at that time and near the lake Loch Ness which is located in the eastern part of Scotland. Columba reported in his writings about the exciting legend of a group he met at the time while they buried a man and he asked what had happened to him and then the group said he had been attacked by a monster in the lake and then killed.
When he visited the place where the accident occurred, Columba went back to look for the monster and caught it while it wanted to attack another swimmer and he was able to intervene just in time and chase away the monster. These incidents took place approximately between 500 - 600 AD and for a long time no one heard of the monster of Loch Ness until in the 18th century again new wind came into the whole topic and some reports of different people appeared who thought they had observed a creature at sea and really interesting became reports of witnesses in the 20th century. At that time, some sightings triggered a great spectacle among the population and a bounty was even exposed and this reward ensured that many people and media came to the region to look for the monster and some time later some people managed to take a photo which is supposed to show the monster and this picture was the trigger for this myth to become known worldwide and more and more people visited the area. Decades later it came out that this photo was a fake and many more videos or photos of this creature followed and turned out to be fakes and to this day there are still people who report that they had seen the monster. To this day, there are also many researchers who devote themselves to the mystery and also do a lot of research with the genetics of living beings in this body of water to research whether it is even possible that a monster of such a size could be in the waters and it leaves many questions unanswered.
Thank you for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about mythology and like my pictures! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens!
I'm scottish and can confirm Nessie exists, having seen her many times. I dont have any pics because she is camera shy. But one warning to you all is that she only really eats tourists. So just watch yourself !!!
Best of luck !

Thanks for showing us the lake. I was talking about this legend with my 7 year old son a few weeks ago
Unfortunately it is not the place in Scotland as already mentioned in the post, but the pictures hopefully fit well and especially with the fog they make an exciting impression. Great to hear that you share the myths with your son and spread this part of the culture :)
