Hello dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and hope you had a great start to the new week! Today I would like to talk a little about minerals and hope you are able to expand your knowledge a little.

Earlier I took pictures of this specimen of Stewartite, a rare mineral, which is first discovered at the beginning of the 20th century in California. Who devoted himself to research was the mineralogist Waldemar Theodore Schaller (1882 - 1967) who was already shaped by his family in his early years when it comes to the basics of chemistry and he also traveled a lot through Europe and made many contacts with mineralogists there and went around a lot in different societies and his research as well as discoveries in mineralogy were very formative and also very important nowadays. Stewartite was named after the place of discovery in the Stewart mine and it is found as a secondary mineral in places with a high occurrence of phosphate and the shape of the crystals can vary greatly and it can form numerous different shapes and from the composition it can also be counted in the mineral class of vanadates, phosphates or arsenates. It is typically found in the pegmatites of garnet-containing rocks and it can also be found together with numerous other minerals and in this specimen there are also traces of the rare minerals laurite or beraunite and the typical yellow or brown color comes out well here. Due to the rarity, there are no significant areas of application from an economic point of view and it is particularly popular in the circles of collectors and in addition to the type location only a few other ones are known and the best known are South America, France, Spain or Africa.

Thanks a lot for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new about minerals! I captured these pictures with my Camera Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.

Stewartite is a mineral that will be rich in something we are not sure of since it is discovered with other important mineral.
