Spring snowflake (Leucojum vernum)

Hello everyone, welcome to my new post in which I would like to present you a wonderful flower, which I recently photographed. I hope you like my post and the pictures and you can expand your knowledge about nature a little!

This flower bears the common name spring snowflake and scientific Leucojum vernum and this perennial and frost-resistant early bloomer already appears from February. The flower has a bell-shaped appearance and prefers a shady to semi-shaded location. It prefers to grow on acidic and not too dry soil which is rich in nutrients, this plant also offers insects a valuable source of food.

Spring snowflake originally comes from southern and central Europe and is often found in mixed deciduous forests. Unfortunately, this plant is considered endangered and in some places it is protected and on the red list. It is important for nature's sake to let this plant stand and not to pick it!

Leucojum vernum is poisonous in all parts and propagation works by division or sowing and it usually grows to 30 cm in height. By the way, the name of the genus Leucojum is derived from Greek from the words leukos (white) and ios (violet). I was able to find out that this plant was first mentioned in 1753 by the naturalist Carl Linnaeus.

White and violet, possibly there is a kind of violet color as well, but white and yellow predominate in this one, well, I don't know too much about flowers but I like them, if I am going to choose to give as a gift, I give yellow flowers, maybe I have a I don't know what it means, but if I were a woman I would like to receive flowers of this color, it is my favorite in flowers

Flowers are always a nice sign of recognition! Even if the one often does not know the symbolism, the gesture behind it does. Yellow flowers are often a sign of friendship but there are also different views! Glad you like it an wish you also a nice day :)
