Secret Writings in Alchemy

Hey everyone, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you have a weekend which is full of interesting experiences! In my new article I would like to go back to the mysterious world of alchemy and I am happy if you can learn new things.

The ability to write was of great importance for the alchemists without the whole topic would probably never have developed like this and fonts were used to encrypt important knowledge so that only the right ones could read it. This is in any case one of the topics that are particularly interesting and is not easy to beat in diversity and so that their texts or recipes would only come to the chosen ones, a lot of symbolism was used and they always found new ways to camouflage them better and worked very creatively. It was known that the alchemists liked to use mythology from different cultures and to communicate in the form of metaphors and rather unknown is that fairy tales or even plays were also used to camouflage the hidden and here it was often improvised and they always found new possibilities. Also in the event that an unauthorised reader should come, precautions were already taken and so the alchemists also liked to rewrite things and if a stranger should crack the recipe, it will bring him nothing because the ingredients were so swapped so that only the chosen ones were able to understand them and false adepts or foxes would look into the void.

Letters were also often simply exchanged in the texts or secret characters were used and it was also quite classic to use multilingual texts and this was especially in a time of great relevance in which only the scholars mastered several languages. It was also a lot about creating confusion, but the alchemists even went one step further and created their own forms of the text, so to speak, and not infrequently images were used which were supposed to tell whole stories and to decipher them was almost impossible for uninitiated people. Some alchemists even came up with the idea of using a font that was not visible to others and so it also happened that they simply used an invisible ink and this was so advanced for the time that the chance was almost zero that an unauthorised could understand something.

When it came to certain substances, they were often linked to a word and so the king was often linked with sulphur and it became even more difficult when a whole order was made from it, which was even additionally exchanged. Some texts were deliberately written in such a way that they were intended to attract even false adepts, thieves or foxes as a form of confusion and if one should fall into this trap, they were deliberately given false information which sent those to the wrong way or only those with the necessary maturity could understand the things. I think my contribution shows how intelligent the alchemists had worked and these were also only a few of the methods and basically it can be said that they have communicated with the help of different hidden methods and had always found new possibilities and here I would also like to mention the Rose garden which is a well-known metaphor, because only the chosen ones have found their way around here and others stung on the thorns.
