Priming effect in Psychology

In psychology, the priming effect also describes the phenomenon that refers to the first absorbed stimulus and thus other stimuli are influenced and it comes to a chain of associations and this effect can be associated with all types of sensory perceptions. This effect takes place on an unconscious level and in the brain it happens that different structures are activated and things are linked together which are based on the first perceived stimulus and influence future decisions and also move secondary things into the background. In psychological research, the effect is particularly interesting to see how stimuli can influence the human brain and in the past it came to the fact that the priming effect has also been associated with the research of other psychological phenomena and there are also possibilities to use this effect in a targeted manner to influence the own behavior or performance. In some areas, this effect is specifically used, as in the field of marketing, and here it is specifically about influencing the perception of the consumer in order to persuade the person to buy a certain product and a special stimulus is used as a basis, which is reinforced and continued by various reactions. Depending on the situation, this effect is used more or less subliminally in the marketing area and can be found in numerous different areas and people are often not aware of the connection and the decision resulting from this scheme and often certain smells, thoughts, images or videos play a major role here. In general, a lot of work is done in the marketing area on a psychological level and the understanding of certain stimuli as well as their effects on behavior or thinking is of great importance and when it comes to the marketing area, the priming effect is probably one of the best known and it is therefore possible to influence the behavior of target groups and this effect is used especially to attract customers to a product or trigger a behavioral change.
