Hey dear Hive friends, I really hope that you are all well and that you had a day full of positive experiences! In my new post, I would like to introduce a mineral a little closer and hope you can learn something new.

The mineral that can be seen here is called Prehnite and it belongs to the class of germanates and silicates. Prehnite was first discovered in the 18th century in Africa by Hendrik von Prehn (1733 - 1785) and the mineralogist Abraham Gottlob Werner (1749 - 1817) named the mineral in honor of him. Initially, the mineral was still considered a zeolite until it was found out that it differs significantly due to its properties and the most important characteristic is the color which can vary from green to brown. It was already very appreciated by the natives of Australia as a protective stone who thought that if you put the mineral into the sun you could store heat with it, but today is known that due too much influence of sunlight the color of Prehnite can fade more and more. The formation of Prehnite can be traced back to hydrothermal origins and is usually found in connection with magmatic rocks.

The most important places of discovery of Prehnit are India, Africa, Scotland, USA, China, Canada or France and this specimen in my pictures has also grown together with Epidot and was found in Switzerland in Arvigo. From a symbolism point of view, it is usually assigned with protection and clarity as well as the zodiac signs Leo, Libra and Scorpio and from an industrial point of view, there are few areas of application and mainly it is processed into jewelry or sold as a healing stone and it is one of the most important protective stones and can also be interesting for detoxification or metabolic diseases. It can also have an influence on the spiritual side and help to activate the chakra system and when it comes to the Psychic Abilities, it can help particularly well to improve clairvoyance. When it comes to healing effects, it is always important to know that it is alternative medicine and you should always ask your doctor!
