Pictures and Mythology of Mountains

Hey dear Hiveans, I hope you had a nice Monday and you are all doing reasonably well! Earlier I visited a place where I had a really fantastic view of the mountains and I took this opportunity to capture this moment!

The weather was really good today and also very clear, otherwise I certainly could not have been able to look so well into the distance. I have also learned some new things about the mythology and symbolism of mountains and think it is a good way to share this knowledge together with the pictures!

Pretty much everywhere in the world you can find mythology of mountains and it is very well known that mountains are often a place to live for gods. In many cultures, mountains are also considered a mystical, powerful and sacred place and a wide variety of legends have emerged around the globe.

In Tibet, the Mount Kailash is very strongly associated with Buddhism and it was also believed that the god of destruction Shiva lives on the top of the mountain. Even in ancient Greece, mountains are considered an important place of residence of the gods and should probably be very well known for one or the other, Olympus. The Olympus is one of the most important mountains and is also the highest mountain in Greece with a height of almost 3000 meters.

A mountain that is also mythologically very anchored, the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, which is one of the few places in Africa where is even snow! Kilimanjaro is considered a sacred mountain and is especially revered by Maasai and with the god Engai connected. There is a mountain with the name Untersberg which is particularly often associated with the craziest stories and sayings. This Mountain is in Europe and is also called the Mountain of Light, what makes it something very special is the connection with time travel and supernatural phenomena!

Mountains are almost always symbolically associated with gods and are considered a connection between heaven and earth. Mountains are a great place to just switch off and relax, mountains are a perfect place to get creative and if you are there with the right people, a simply amazing experience! Due to the altitude, many plants also grow in the mountain region, which are otherwise not found so often.

In Australia there is also a mountain that bears the name Ayers Rock and is considered a sacred place of worship for the Aborigines. Finally, I found a great quote which I think fits very well: "Mountains know secrets we need to learn. That it might take time, it might be hard, but if you just hold on long enough, you will find the strength to rise up." - Tyler Knott
