My First Day in Shanghai

Hey everyone, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you have a weekend so far which has brought some interesting experiences into your life! Today I would like to share something about my time in Shanghai with you and I am happy if you like my post.

My original plan was to fly from Beijing to Shanghai, but I decided to test the well-known express trains which are very popular in China and are known under the name China Railway High-Speed. From Beijing to Shanghai it's about 1200 km and the journey by train took just 4.5 hours which of course was also a unique experience and it was in any case also the fastest train with which I have driven so far and it was also similarly comfortable as in the plane and anyone who should be in China, should definitely test these fast trains and I think there are similar programs in other countries like Japan or South Korea, but it can be said that Asia is well developed in this respect. When I arrived in Shanghai, I first had to get used to the high humidity that prevails there, but I personally did not have such strong problems, but I could imagine that there are people who have them and they should best choose travel times in which the climate is different and in short it can be said that this is especially high in summer while in cooler months it#s much more pleasant.

Arrived in the city I first went to my hotel and then I looked for a restaurant and I never had any problems in that regard would describe the Chinese cuisine as one of the best in the world, but what people in Western countries are served as Chinese is very different from the traditional cuisine. Those who come from Beijing will probably have to change their habits first because Shanghai is a completely different world and in every respect much more modern or international, but there are also plenty of traces of traditional China. It's again something completely different than in Beijing and at first I was a bit disappointed because skyscrapers were not the reason for me to come here, but I quickly found my way around and also got to know the other facets of the city such as traditional buildings. Shanghai is not only considered one of the largest cities in China with million inhabitants, but is also an important location for finance or various economic branches such as technology and already during the 19th century, it became an important trading center at the international level. Shanghai is extremely open when it comes to international trade relations and many important industries or banks have their headquarters here and the laws are also particularly lucrative for foreign investors who can simply invest larger amounts of capital here and have a great access to the Chinese markets.

It can also be described as a kind of gateway for investors who receive perfect access to millions of consumers and this whole area is also supported by the state through numerous projects, which of course promotes international growth. On my first evening I visited the Waitan area from which I had a great view of the illuminated skyline and most of course it can be worthwhile to visit it in the evening to exploit the full potential. Then I started looking for even more traditional buildings and walked into the historic old quarter in which there are some traditional buildings and here there is to say that some of the buildings have been changed so that in the interior are different kinds of stores, but it was also an experience to see them from the outside. Afterwards I visited the Yu Garden and even it was closed, there are still some things to explore here, which is why it can also be recommended as an evening program and roughly it can be said that I have spent my first evening with it to explore the city and immediately will people notice that Shanghai is a mixture of old as well as modern architecture, which is an interesting contrast.
