Greetings dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to welcome you to my new post and wish you a great Wednesday! Here I would like to bring you a little closer to a mineral and hope you can learn something new and like my contribution!

Here you can see one of the most important suppliers of iron and therefore of great importance, the mineral hematite. The name is derived from the Greek word haimatitis, which means blood red and the name is probably associated with the fact that when working the mineral, the water that comes into contact with the dust turns blood red.

Hematite belongs to the mineral class of oxides and hydroxides and the color is usually gray, black or red. I find the look very abstract and in its pure form, hematite consists of 70-75% iron, but it is also very popular for processing jewellery. By the way, because it is able to reflect well, it was often used as a mirror and as a dye.

Already in the Stone Age it was used for cave painting and also for healing it was already appreciated by the ancient Egyptians and in the Middle Ages. As a healing stone, it was mainly used to stop bleeding or generally against pain. Hematite also has blood-purifying properties and can help to create psychological clarity. As always, if you have any complaints, you should ask your doctor for the right use and medicine!

By the way, this specimens were originally found on the island of Elba, which is considered an essential location for minerals. In mythology, it was also often considered a protective stone and in ancient Egypt it was often worn by pharaohs, which emerges from ancient excavations. In ancient Egypt, it was often worn as an amulet or jewelry in general and was considered a popular mineral and protection bearer.

Hematite was also known to the ancient Greeks and Babylonians and was revered for the healing properties and the first mention goes back to ancient Greece. At the end of my post, I would like to discuss the spiritual effect and symbolism. Hematite is considered a mineral that can give happiness as well as vitality and in general it can also help to find access to the own self. It can also have an influence on the chakra system and is associated with the first of the 7 main chakras the root chakra or also called Muladhara chakra.

Such stones are not found in common places, they have to be found in special places, such as on the seashore or in the forest.
