Flowers in Art History
Good day dear Hive Community, I hope your mood is good and you all have a great start to the weekend! Today I would like to devote myself to art and hope you can expand your knowledge a little in this important topic that has strongly influenced culture.
Flowers and art are very strongly connected and here I present three examples from the artists Anna Sophia Gasteiger (1877 - 1954) and Otto Hellmeier (1908 - 1996) who have set this atmospheric theme as a role model. For centuries, the bright colors of different flowers have helped shape different artists or epochs and through the high attraction and natural beauty, it has inspired numerous artists and awakened the creative side and one thing is certain, flowers arouse a great passion. Flowers can already be found in art in ancient Egypt and have played an important role and were also much associated with symbolism at that time and especially the strong colors were full of symbolism and it has changed different art styles such as painting, pottery, forging or sculpture. When it comes to painting flowers, you definitely need a skilled and calm hand because it is not so easy to paint the contours and of course the painter also had to pay attention to the choice of the right colors to give the work of art an authentic flair and to put a smile on the eye of the viewer eye. The painting of flowers flourished particularly at the end of the Middle Ages during the Renaissance and painting flowers was usually often associated with femininity or mythological events and some great masters of the past have set flowers as a role model. In the Baroque, the topic reached completely new heights and here it was no longer about painting the flowers as vividly as possible, a lot was also put on transience and therefore you often see withered flowers and of course this form of painting was also strongly associated with the research or discovery of new plants because it was of course important to capture the diversity of the flowers in order to improve the determination and science.
After this era, the painting of flowers has not been forgotten but rather moved into the background until the 19th century again more wind came into the topic and with the advent of the new art epochs and currents such as Impressionism, Realism, Art Nouveau, Historicism and more, nature and painting were increasingly merged and the flowers were painted for eternity. Landscape painting was also strongly shaped it and artists also painted entire fields which were full of flowers and the whole theme became more and more expanded and more complex and through the achievements of new stylistic devices the paintings appeared even more authentic. Well-known names of artists who have chosen flowers as a model are Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, Jan van Eyck, Caspar David Friedrich and many others. Other art epochs such as goldsmithing or other forms of metal art have also been strongly influenced by flowers and there are numerous works that are about creating floral patterns or engravings and other art epochs such as book painting have also strongly influenced it. Painting ceramics with flowers has also been of great importance since ancient times and also in sculpture you often see the flowers being depicted and it has changed the whole history so much that you can not focus on an singe art movement and numerous artists have opened their hearts to the topic. To this day, thousands of artists are still inspired by flowers and the history of art as well as all the historical stylistic devices have a great influence on the creation of today's works.

I read somewhere that art comes from the inner soul and now I think that's it's true. Artists works from their imaginations.

Artist helps to beautify the world and gives us special memories and feelings. Drawing of flowers is one act I love even though I am not an artist.
