Exploring Zaanse Schans in Netherlands
Hey everyone, at the beginning I would like to welcome you all to my new contribution and hope you have a positive start to the new week so far! In this article I would like to share something about an experience I had in the Netherlands and I would be happy if you could learn new things.
Amsterdam is a great city and offers something for pretty much everyone, but if you want to see even more of the real Holland, you should not miss a trip to Zaanse Schans, which is a bit away from the city and has a lot of culture to offer. The area is particularly well known for the historic windmills, but it's a large open-air facility which has much more to offer such as old buildings, museums, workshops or other traditional things such as insight into professions. At the beginning it is important to know that a beautiful day should be chosen for the visit and the entrance to the complex is free of charge, but the buildings cost admission and here in the best case the combined ticket should be bought with which a lot can be saved than who individually pays the entrance.
In total, a good day can be spent here and during the excursion you can learn a lot about the traditional professions of the area such as the production of cheese, the processing of metal, wood and many more and it's all made extremely authentic and as if someone has just arrived in old Holland and it's the perfect place to learn more about the culture and get out of the hectic big city. The old mills can also be visited from the inside and are probably one of the highlights of the area, but not everything was open that day, but I had the pleasure of being able to visit two from the inside like an old oil and paint mill. I already had some knowledge about the old mills so it was particularly amazing to learn more about them and in general it's the perfect place for a day trip from Amsterdam and also one of the most visited places of the country. I went there early in the morning and would also recommend this to prevent the large crowds of people and if you want to buy a souvenir, you are probably in the right place where many of the things like spices are produced here directly.
The whole area is a place that is rich of history and during the 17th century, it was considered one of the largest industrial areas in all of Europe. Here extremely much work was done with wind power and with the help of old mills countless different goods processed and it is a great legacy to bring out the industrial power of the Netherlands and not only large industrial families lived here, but also many famous artists visited the area to paint the breathtaking landscape. The area has even more things to offer and is perfect for excursions in nature and who should be in Amsterdam should not miss a day here and visit one of the highlights of the country.
Thank you very much for stopping by and I hope you could learn something new and like my post! I captured these pictures with my Sony Alpha 6000 plus 55-210 mm lens.

Hey @elevator09 you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Such awesome pictures! Believe it or not I've been there before, but it's been quite some time now! I love the Netherlands, such a pretty country. They have so much history and the landscapes are beautiful. I love the architecture too... Now I feel like making a journey to Europe again. I've been meaning to for years, but timing just hasn't worked out!
Wow that’s great to hear! Did you manage to see everything and was everything open that day? Unfortunately, the sawmill was closed but everything else was open. What did you like most? Oh yes that’s true, Amsterdam is partly very touristic and it is the perfect change to see more of the traditional culture! Hope you can come back to explore some places :) Netherlands should also especially interesting for you, since your ancestor charlemagne was active here!
I think everything was open that day, but the ticket system was different I believe. It's been too long! I still haven't visited Charlemagne's tomb either, so Germany may have to be fit into the trip as well!
I first made the mistake of visiting a mill individually, but it was still worth it to buy the combination ticket afterwards. I also know a legend which says that could be born in a mill in the west of Germany :)
Oh I remember @haastrecht making a post about that same place! It's a cool place, I think it's worthy visit inside a mill and see how it works, you can learn a lot! The buildings are also very typical
Thank you so much for the kind words :)
Haha, I did multiple, probably. It's also a famous place for Dutchies
